Wrong.
Red is on the port (left) side.
Its, red right returning.
If you see red on the right side you know the boat is returning or coming at you.

The red buoy is on the right side of the channel when you are returning to port...
Red is always the right side of the boat, from the captain's perspective.

You're right about the marker buoys in a channel. But the running lights on the boat are, red port side, green starboard side.

13. Thou shall assemble thy ferruled lower spreader from the left side only and never on the right.

Why? I've always been going the other way, the half with the ferrule goes on the right, but if there's a reason, I'll switch.

Don't believe everything you read around here.

There's a subversive element at work. Quasi religious if you ask me...

This has been written in tablets of Icarex in the Olde GWTW Testament.
Woe unto him that heeds it not

Few of the teachings of the GWTW Old Testament still survive outside of living memory and Faith in the Word That Was Spoken.

I say:  THROW OFF THE CHAINS OF ANCIENT DOGMA AND BE FREE!

But do check that your ferrule is properly glued and solid at all times.

Kmac told me the ferrule always goes on the assembler's right when facing the kite. He didn't explain the reasoning, nor did I ask.

Anyone want to argue with him? Not me, I changed immediately.

I'll buck the system, I've been doing it the other way since I started flying.  ;D

It really depends on the kite.

Like most things, I'm sure the root of the mythology has to do with mylar.

My first "real" kite ( a BMK Exile) came to me (from a well known kite pusher) with the ferrule on the right and was feet first in the sleeve. Every kite since has been done the same way.

If I recall, that was when you picked up your Mojo.(?)  I suggested that you assemble it with the ferrule on the right because the connectors were pointing in a specific direction on each side.

I'm surprised that no one has brought mentioned that it really depends on whether you're in the northern or southern hemisphere.  The carbon molecules must be aligned differently based on the Earth's orientation in relation to the sun.  Of course there is the factor of which side you part your hair on, but that's a whole other thread...

#xx(?) - Thou shalt not take any of this, including thyself, too seriously. ;)
