Title: Links to plans
Post by: inewham on March 06, 2009, 04:10 PM
I thought it might be useful to list a few here, especially those that are beginner friendly.

When there's a few they can be split into quad/dual/single line.

As a mainly stunt kiter I'll start with an obvious one:
list a few here, especially those that are beginner friendly.
Orange: http://wildkite.net/plans_e.htm (http://wildkite.net/plans_e.htm)

Pretty simple and step by step instructions. A good choice for a first build.

Don't know how long it'll be in the air though, cause the magazine has died a quiet death after 27 years. :'(

Title: Re: Links to plans- B'zar 2009 Ultra Light
Post by: positivo on May 22, 2009, 07:40 AM
So, the plans for the Ultra Light model are on the internet !!

This one flies in about 5 km/h to 15 km/h and does it very good.
All tricks are in there, precision remains very good. I mostly like the 100% flat backspins!
It took some effort, but we focused on the idea that the same feeling must be on the lines, wether you fly a STD or an UL.
The sail is a little different, the structure and bridle are adapted to meet the wind requirements

have fun building and flying!

Post by: positivo on May 24, 2009, 05:11 AM
In relation to the B'zar STD plan, there appears to be 3 standoff holes indicated on the sail. Could you let us know which positions are preferable?
Thanks.
The two outer positions are the ones we use for tricks flying. If you are more into precision, you might move the inner standoff to the other hole. It's more of personal thing than a need. All pilots here fly on the widest standoff positions  :-)

Great kite, great flying, great video! Having the tricks named with a caption is very helpful to me, and lots of others, I bet, so thanks!

(BTW, 8 k/h is 5 m/h, not 0.5.)

Title: Re: Links to plans - update on the B'zar
Post by: positivo on December 30, 2009, 11:39 AM
After testing a little less than a whole year and flying competitions, some minor modifications were done to the 2009 model.
On the website we have adjusted all the measurements and plans.
For pilots with a 2009 model it's just sufficient to make the tri-axis bridle,
slide the cross piece (center T) 1 cm higher, the APA's on the bottom leading edges 18 mm higher and shorten the upper spreader to 50 cm.
For new builders: just build what's on the plans.   ;)

The 2010 model is different from the 2009 STDi, they can coexist in your kitebag because they complement each other.
These plans will be put online between January 16 and 23.

Title: Re: Links to plans -> Traced Pieces of Le Quartz in Vectorial Format
Post by: Ara Ararauna on December 07, 2012, 10:34 AM
Hi,

This makes reference to the Le Quartz kite open project with the rectilinear complex layout (not the simpler one).

I traced the pieces from the PDF with a vectorial graphics free software program called InkScape (really nice program similar to Corel Draw but free: http://inkscape.org/ (http://inkscape.org/)).
I use this program a lot for drawing all sorts of graphics that are line-based.
The native format is SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) but it can also save in DXF which is the format that the laser cutter software could import.
Below I make available the tracing in SVG so that anyone that wishes to mess about with the colour definition or shapes can download InkScape and then do whatever you wish: print on paper, export to DXF, etc.
This is the file:
http://www.dtic.upf.edu/~npares/personal/kites/LeQuartz_TracedPieces_RectilinearComplexPattern.svg (http://www.dtic.upf.edu/~npares/personal/kites/LeQuartz_TracedPieces_RectilinearComplexPattern.svg)

The interesting thing also is that SVG format is native to HTML and most browsers allow to visualise it directly.

NOTE! The pieces are already traced with the overlap for the seam. Therefore once you cut the piece it can already be glued to its neighbours.

Hi guys,

I hope to hit the right board, if not please put the thread to another one. I want to share the plans of the Magnet with you. I developed it over 1,5 years and like the idea of an open source project.

Please read the "How to" and "Readme"`s carefully, if you got any questions just let me know. I don`t want to bother you with more words but let the movies speak!

I too could not access the first page, however I noticed that if I clicked the 'prev' link from page 2 I could see it.

Having limited powers as a board admin I thought I'd try moving the thread to Forum Moderators as a temporary location then move the posts into a new thread.

I moved it and now the first page has disappeared completely. If anyone can 'see' it in its original location
http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?topic=104.0 (http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?topic=104.0) can you let me know? Maybe we can copy the first page into a new thread.
