Title: Will a 19ft premier kites delta fit in my car???
Post by: crunchie on July 15, 2009, 07:34 AM
Hi all!

I'm about to drive out to go and get a 19 footer delta and wanted to know if it will fit in my ordinary mazda 5 protege? I usually store kites in the small space between the doors and the seats, since I cannot pass them through the back seats and into the trunk. I can store kites as big as 6 foot wide, but I wonder how big is the biggest spar in the 19 footer.

Does anyone know?

Daniel Shane

Folds to 47

Well if it folds to 47" it will fit in any car :)

I would of been surprised if the spars were more than 6 feet.

Where's your sense of adventure?  If you REALLY want to have some fun, try mounting it on the roof!  :D

I would've said it breaks down to 54" since that is the length of the glaspar .505's it is mainly contructed of. But if you've seen 48" maybe they are cut, i've never actually measured.

Regardless you'll have no problems transporting it if you can transport any mid size kite. It breaks down nicely, the wing & spine are made up of 3 tubes each, the spreader is 2 pieces. You have to pull them out, but setup & breakdown are quick & easy, 5 minutes max, i'm sure we could do it in under 2 if you put a stopwatch on us. I don't have the original bag and am using one that's about 5-6" flat and the kite + rods are swimming in it.

Have fun with the new kite. I love ours really makes a statement up in the sky. Break down is not a problem and does not take the 5 min Mike said. Mike likes to fold a certain way before rolling it up and that takes more time than pulling out the spars. Love to see a picture of yours when you get it up in the air.
