Title: Gods' Creatures
Post by: Zeke on September 19, 2009, 02:29 AM
late evening and had to run out to the truck and grab my glasses case, managed to drop my keys in the grass and bent down to pick it up and find myself staring in to two little black eyes behind a little pointed nose...I was lucky, don't smell any worse, but couldn't the Creator have crossed one of them little fellers with a rattler or lightning bug or something, just for a little advance warning?

I almost died from a bee sting. Darndest thing. My friend wand I were traveling in his car while at a traffic light a yellow jacket entered the car. My friend didn't notice it but I did. The light changes and we proceed to our destination via the highway. THAT'S when my friend notices the bee. We're in an ever so reliable and stable Suzuki Samuria doing 65 and all of a sudden were in left lanes, right lanes, breakdown lanes.....

"WTF CARL!!!!!!!!"

We missed the concrete barrier a few times and finally went over the curbing onto the grass side of the road where we stopped. Carl rushes outta the car and I swear he looked like a fat flamenco dancer patting his head neck and body down.

What the heck happened, I asked.

The bee got into his shirt and he's highly allergic to bee stings, which would cause him to go into anaphalactic shock should he be stung.

"Gee, I'm sorry Carl. I didn't know. But just because you'd die of a bee sting doesn't mean I have to."

Those critters are dangerous.

Living here in Tucson we see our share of critters. Once my wife complained she couldn't get the back gate shut, on closer inspection it was discovered that a rattle snake we caught in the hinged side of the gate.

We also have a tarantula that lives around us, he/she likes to shed its skin by the front door, and a couple of times in the last month the dog is going crazy, cause the thing has come into the house. I catch and release back outside.

The lovely Bambi figures if a bug (of any kind) is stupid enough to come into a house, they shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Bambi does this:

Catch
Smash repeatedly beyond all recognition while screaming
Release to bug heaven

Hello Sketch,
I am NOT a spider expert by any means.  But I think you will find that the spider in your picture is a "western orb, or weaver spider" some times referred to as a "garden spider".  Sure looks like a VERY well fed one though... ???  But basically they are harmless except they make really large spider webs that you run into in the dark outside at night...LOL

Take Care
Charly

While up visiting my Mom & Dad at the beginning of this year went out on the front porch to be confronted by this little guy(1st Pic) as I quietly moved around the end of the porch and on to the driveway I met Mom & Dad (2nd Pic)
