Title: Most satisfying trick
Post by: tpatter on December 09, 2009, 03:11 PM
What trick do you find most rewarding?

For a long time, mine has been the JL.  It seems like sometimes when I go flying, I spend 2 hours doing JLs and then go home.  Lately, its been the backspin cascade (not that I'm fully there yet).

For me, it's the side-slide.  When I hit the input just right and slide the kite clear across the window, I marvel at my own competence :)

I really enjoy doing everything haha.
I really REALLY like a very high Flapjack. As seen in the prism video with the elixir.
like this one!

edit- the JUNGLE Elixir is the one I'm referring to. Awesome height.

Mine is the upright, single pop rollup.  When I keep the wings level, don't use too much slack and exit with authority its very satisfying.

yo-fade. I cant hit it all the time, but when I do it makes me happy!

I get the biggest bang out of combinations. Doesn't matter if they are made of of simple tricks. Probably due to the improvisational nature. Especially when the combination is prompted/guided/influenced by the music I'm listening to.

I must say, a good long, fast slide a few inches off the deck is hard to beat for a pat on the back. It's gotta be a stellar slide, though.

Ok, i have to add one more.
A rock solid 540, about as close as it gets to the ground.
Gotta love it  :D

I love a nice, slow, floaty 540! I've also been working on my jacobs ladders too. I get huge satisfaction from getting the rhythm down (roll, pitch, pause, spin, pause, repeat).

A really perfect 180 to landing

A clean two point landing mid window on a windy day

A driving stab or black hole, on that makes passers by look ::)

Reversing a slide and going back the other way

Multi rotation flatspins (1260 8) )

A good square cuts

The ladole. One of those tricks I'm not at all reliable at all with, but so awesome when it works.

A nice smooth 540, love the way it just floats around ;D I can only nail it once in awhile, but working on being more consistent.

Currently
Low wind flying ... long slow pinweels
"Normal" wind flying ... moebius to two-point landing.

I cannot do this trick with any consistancy but, when it works, I get a real rush.

I fly two dual line kites - just like Ray - but without the center kite.

I launch the two kites and fly to the left side of the wind window, nest the nose of the trailing kite between the lines of the lead kite. I turn the wrapped stack under and fly to the top of the right wind window. I turn the stack to the ground and execute a double flac-flac, unwrap the stack and return to the top of the left wind window, ready to do it again.

My last successful effort was done about a month ago with an STD Mantis and a STD. Sea Devil.

Does it make a mess when it doesn't work?

Well -- YEAH

It's a mystery to me why so few kite fliers fly only one kite at a time.

Yo-Yo take off into a Multi Lazy unrolling right back onto the ground. Saw it first on the Nirvana video and figured my kite life would be complete once that was down. The Machine does them all day.

Spent many an hour doing Insanes to tip stabs with the Vented Viper

JLs are not exaclty satisfying as they are addicting. I have become annoyed with myself at times by not avoiding them alltogether.

A flat 540 about 3 feet off the ground (has to be flat at that height). I really love watching that trick and it also stops other people.

Most satisfying trick?

1. Keeping the wife happy. Tricky man...way tricky!!

2. Holding on to my job.

3. Finding my way to a kite field.

Pretty much in that order.  :-*

Hey! I like Randy's #1! I might also add "well-adjusted and responsible kids"! I subscribe to the philosophy I read in a really good how-to book that fathers should not exasperate their kids and that they should, instead, be an encouragement. After 20 years of experience I'm getting pretty good at that trick. Practice, practice, practice.

My most satisfying trick is to just put the kite together and stretch out the lines......Yep that's what I do better than anything else.....

For me, the most rewarding is to do back to back comete combo with one tip stand.  I like doing rolling cascade too.  I am getting this trick 7 try out of 10.

I'm surpriced no one mentioned the fade.
The fade is my absolute favorite... especially when I start to get tired, it's great to put the kite in a fade and relax a little  :) It doesn't take so much physical effort.

Comet-reverses hit-miss sometimes-Multi-Lazies-multiple rollups yo-yo. Percision most now mixed in.

Helps to find kite you connect with stay with it. Still have my favorite UL Nirvana never part with, have 2 but my red one seem just right.
