Title: Kite flying in San Diego
Post by: Michel on April 23, 2010, 03:39 AM
Hi all,

I'll be 15 days in San Diego in may/june.

- Where are the best places for flying there ?

- Is there members of the GWTW forum in San Diego ?

- Is there kiteshops, kite festivals ? (TOTL kites were built in San Diego last Century if I remember).

Thanks in advance.  ;)

The San Diego Kite Club meets the second Saturday every month at Tecolote Shores Park, right next to I 5 south of the Hilton Hotel.  Good place to fly.
Another good place is Mariner Point, out past Sea World.

Kite Country is a small kite shop on Sports Arena Blvd behind the now closed Black Angus.

Sad to say, looks like the Lummi will have to miss this Saturday.  Ben's baseball team have a playoff game on Saturday instead.  Should be fun but sad to miss you all.  Will try to get down there soon.

Have fun.

The club has a few things planned for all day Saturday:
A short memorial service and kite fly event for our brethren no longer with us.  Ill be flying a favorite kite passed on to me from a friend before he passed on.  Bring a single line and fly it with us in salute to your own lost friends.
RevMan Games creates a club competition to show who has the best precision flying control of their quad line kite.  Bring your favorite four stringer.
Cinco de Mayo Mexican luncheon, sorry, no Tequila. Bring your hunger.
Weatherman predicts winds 7-10mph all afternoon with temps around the mid 60s.
So.Come On Down!!!    kitepilot

Tataouine,

What are the actual dates you will be in the US.  We live in North Orange County and Long Beach is very close for us.  We fly there often.

Michel ... If you have a few days to spare make the 10 hour drive to Chico.  We'd love to see you.   And you should visit the real California.  ;)

Thanks for the invite,

Got a niece & nephew that live in Chico,  I partied there in the 80's.

Have lived in Redding, Napa, Fairfield, and Santa Rosa

Though I do need to get up north and get some stuff out of storage sometime, so when I do get up that way I will put Chico on my list
