Title: Tricks Party Index in FA...
Post by: cids on May 16, 2010, 11:51 AM
There are a total of 5 groups(Group 1 to Group 5) of tricks.  Does it mean that the Group 5 tricks are the hardest when comparing to the Group one(the easiest) ?

Just to make sure I understand this correctly... your question is

"which is the more difficult; the Half Axel or Yo-yo Multilazy ?"

 ???

That Fearless really has a mixed up sense of priorities by the sounds of things.

If the peoples who involved in making the TPI were flying the F kite back then, the tricks yoyo multi lazy or cynique will be in group three and LS/multilazy is in group one.   :)

It certainly is a rich and vivid fantasy world you inhabit, isn't it ?  ::)

The only kite I've ever flown that might have made Yoyo Multilazies easier to do attractively than a decent Half Axel was the Air Oeuvre Mohawk and that was a kite I happily sent back to its owner. Who then sold it IIRC. I'd describe this sort of behaviour as a design flaw.

Second thought, the yoyo multi lazy or cynique  should be in group 2 and LS/multilazy is in group 0.5 if there is one. This list is for F kite users only. :D

Saw several people with arrogant attitudes like that go out and crash and burn when they actually tried to do Tricks Party  ::).  See how consistent your re-assessment of trick difficulty is when you're asked to do them consistently, right now, on the music, only one shot at it.  Even a half axel isn't a no-brainer under those conditions, and when you're actually being judged according to strict criteria.

It is the pressure of the competition that made them crash. Not the tricks. Luckily I'm flying for fun only.  :)

I would imagine that its like flying for your tripod times 100.   ???

I went to a festival some time back where a group of us played PIG, but with flying tricks, instead of basketball shots.  It was alot of fun and gets you used to the idea of doing tricks on demand.

TP trick difficulty always struck me as case by case.

Some people would have a trick down and so it really was not particularly hard for them to do regardless of its group.

Something else that presented quite often:

The kites used by a majority of competitors made the Lewis, as an example, relatively easy and the Coin Toss, another example, next to impossible.

But then, that was true of many of the older school tricks. And of course people were not practicing those tricks particularly either.

Dead-on true.

cids, I'm dying to see some video of you and your Fearless.  As someone who is hoping to become a TP-level flier some day, all inspiration and instruction is most welcome.  Do you have links to vids of your flying?

Sorry. No video. I'm still a beginner.

I started flying stunt kite on mid Nov., 2008. My first stunt kite is a Prism Zephyre. I broke the damn kite in the first day by doing hundred of nose plant. The LS(3PT) and ferrule were broken. Man. I thought this is an expensive hobby.  ???  A $200 kite gone in one day.   :'(  I repaired the kite with epoxy and flown it for a month.

Then I discovered this site and bought a SD SUL.  I flown the SD SUL for 3 months in high wind(30km) or no wind.  Basicly I'm learning  how to fly a stunt kite. A few very basic tricks like L/R axel, LS, Backflip. That's it.  Nothing fancy.

On Mid March, 2009, I bought a Fearless STD.  The reason that I bought the Fearless was that my flying pal flown a SD UL.  I wanted something different.  I like Lam's kites since he is a Master Class flier and a champion Kite builder.  The F kite helps me alot in the tricking department. This is only my 10th months in my stunt kite tricking life(no flying last winter).  Now I can do 4 of the TPI Group 5 tricks + other tricks of course.  Like today, I did 4 1 pop yoyo/half LS and releasing the yoyo to fade back to back*. :)  Trust me.  It is not me but the F kite doing the tricks for me.  This is the reason why I'm so exciting regarding the F kite.  It is truly a wonderful kite. :)

My advice is go and get a F kite ASAP.  ;)
*My F kite has a pair of yoyo rollbar installed.

If you don't have any kite related thing to say, then please don't say it.  We are not writing Harry Potter here.  ;)

I'm just expressing my feelings and experiences with the kite. What is the word hyperbole mean anyway.  As you know, English is not my specialty.

It will cost you since I need to hire a director, videographer, film editor, script writer, art director, location scout, grip, catering, transportation etc. Yes, I take Paypal(add 4%).  :)

Hyperbole, "Exaggerated statement not meant to be taken literally". From the latin "Hyperbola".
Quoted from the Concise Oxford Dictionary, amazing book I recommend it to you!

News coming out of France is that we may all have to stop using the words "Tricks" and "Party" quite so close together anyway.  :-X

The motivating, mentoring, and moderating seem to be equal to the old forum.  :(

Have fun in your own way, maintain your enthusiasm, and enjoy the zen. Fly outside of the box others try to put you in.  It's not about who can fly the best, but who can maximize the zen. I've seen newbies having more fun lawn darting than others fretting over technique and perfection.  :P

There's nothing wrong with technique and perfection if that's what you're into, but it has no bearing on what others are into, growth of the sport, or the Olympics (Olympics = generic for whatever goal you can dream up).

Care to share?

Let's wait to hear from everyone when they get back from Stella Plage. :-[ But what I hear, before and during, is Not Good. I believe the word "cluster" was employed at one stage.

Yo cids! No one is saying that people can't share their experiences with kites. We can fly anyway we want.
It's just that people, especially newbies log onto GWTW to talk kites, seek advice and maybe even learn. When they read comments from others flying $500+ SUL's in 35mph winds or vented kites in 2-3mph, it's counter productive and their liable to go out and do something stupid with their new kite.

The gramatical thing, yeah I'll give you that.... my bad... :-[

The video thing... mobile phones make great camera's these days, no Spielberg required ;)

Nice weekend, and really well organised, executed and supported freestyle competition. Well done the Kitehouse team and CVS.
