Hi Juergen,

The ' Black Pearl ' - sounds like the ' Pirates of the Caribbean ', one would assume the kite will cost around 280 Euros. Looks like a mix of the Genesis and Eternity??

Is it common for kites to climb like that in a turtle?  :o

The Lifter can be a bugger of a trick. Sometimes it seems very kite specific then some smartarse will come along and do it on a kite you previously declared it impossible on.

German kites come with them sewn in at the factory though. True story*

Mike,
* story not necessarily true.

Sounds definitely better than Gentleman, or not?
BP (sic) is quite a new design by a new kid on the block (busterike), very nice ratio, more stretched than Genesis or Eternity. Span is 2.4m, height 0.95m.

Had a go back in June with the prototype, felt a bit like a Vortex, really tricky, unfortunately is was over 100°F and hardly any wind, so we decided to move on to the Biergarten ...  ;)

Since you asked, Keith:
The UL - all framed in SkyShark is €250 and the Std. with a 6mm carbon and Skyshark mix will be €199.

Both available end of September.

Hi
i feel very flattered that my kite go so fast over the ocean and that u like my video.
Sorry but my english isn´t so good. Just stupid school english.

@ Flying High
I have developed specifically for you this kite.
It should be for beginners to fly easily and understood new tricks without loosing the control.
And the kite alows flying with high precision (straight lines, groundpass, corners, circuits, etc.)

Further the STD is very robust because of the leading edge which is made off 6 mm carbone tube.

I hope i will answer all your questions in future (and u anderstood what i mean  :( )

Hi John
it would be an honor for me to see my kite on one of your pictures.
I always admire your photos. I myself am against just a layman.
That you like the design pleased Jens (LevelOne) and me. Thanks.

If you're serious about having your kite it a photo by me.....

Drop me an email for my address and send the kite over so I could get some photos and fly it along with 3 or 4 of the local boys who have been admiring the kite. Then I'll send the kite back to you.

But in all honesty, it looks like your photography is totally fine. And from the angles and time you shot the kite, it would appear you are already following the kite photography steps I've written about in past articles.

It is a strong panel layout. Nicely done.  :)

Well I could practice and practice and never trick that good. That's some nice clean flying.

Once you loose the fear of breaking your $500 kite you keep pushing the tricks harder and harder. It's taken me six years and and I can now flic flac down to under one foot from the ground and then fly the fade to recover; ie rising fade and controlling it up and down in the transition. I have to many Level One kites now but the Black Pearl looks great in custom colors, they do make them. Cheers

Indeed, nice looking kite, but why did Level One choose to design a new kite soo close from the Eternity ?  ::)

Does anybody ever tryed it ?
Dragonfly, Where would you set it compare to the Eternity ?

Hopefully I can test the pearl next week. Being released so close to the Eternity and Gent just happened.

All three kites have been developed by independent designers, who approached LevelOne for serial production. LevelOne aka Jens Frank seems to be open for new developments and challenges. Bring it on.

I ran across this review the other day.

Mmmmm........I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.

If anyone is thinking of ordering, let me know - we can potentially double-up and save on shipping which I've heard is very steep to the US.

Might be worth checking with Fraser if the demo kites are for sale after the tour.

The BP (Pro & UL) are hovering there at or near the top of my next kite list.  Pity I'm in the UK.

Hi Tom,

here's the answer to your Q:
Quote
What is the difference between the BP and the BP Pro?

The BP Pro is a more precise SkyShark version of the BP standard.

Specifications for the BP Pro:
Spine: P3X
Lower spreaders: Black Diamond Nitros
Leading edge: 3pt/3pt
Slightly different stand-off positions and a modified bridle.

HTH.  :)

Thanks! :)

Looks like the Pro is the way to go for those in the US, since SkyShark is easy to get here.

Well, 6mm carbon shouldn't be hard to get either ...

I personally like one piece leading edges, any ferrule is a weak spot. Might be just my flying or the irish wind conditions  ::)

True.

Once I heard that it was 3 pt I was sold.  My 3 most favorite kites are all framed in 3pt - I'm beginning to think that it's no coincidence!  :)
