Title: Reverse Turbo Bridle in Fearless STD...
Post by: cids on October 14, 2010, 02:29 PM
My Fearless STD came with 3 Point Bridle. I never flown a kite with Reverse Turbo Bridle before.  I just made a reverse turbo bridle copy from Tempest's Fearless Vented Light and installed it in my beat-up F kite.  I will try it tomorrow.

What do you think the differences in between the 3 Point Bridle and my new Reverse Turbo Bridle in my F kite ?

pulls less, even easier rollup, even easier comete, a little more precise maybe.  I keep flip-flopping on which I like better.  I don't think one is clearly better than the other - more a matter of preference.

Thanks for the reply. :) :) :)

Is there a reason why the Reverse Turbo Bridle helps the kite in rolling up or  comete even Taz better or easier ?

I have done a simple survey regarding some currently available popular kites.  It looks like Reverse Turbo Bridle is very popular.  I wonder why.  Does it offer better performance ?

Here are my findings:
Seven                     Reverse Turbo Bridle
TNT                        3 Point Bridle
K2                          Reverse Turbo Bridle
Fearless Light/STD    3 Point Bridle
Fearless Vented/SUL  Reverse Turbo Bridle
Talon                      Active(some type of modified Turbo ?)
NSE                        Reverse Turbo Bridle
Nirvana(Debray)        Reverse Turbo Bridle
Deep Space             Semi-Active(some type of modified Turbo ?)

Talon                      Active(some type of modified Turbo)

This is the original Active configuration. There are others.

It's a Turbo/Dynamic with an Activator line as illustrated here (http://bensonkites.com/tech/bridles.html). A full Active bridle would have Stabiliser leg too. These are Andy Wardley's terms and as he dreamt up the Active bridle it's probably a good idea to stick to them.

No, it's pretty well known by now. What do you make of this ?

Bridles are the darkest of dark arts. Stuff works 'cos it works. Apart from the Reverse Tri-Axis which will always be rubbish.

Damn that's a good looking kite. Is that the same bridle as was on it when it came? Efficient knots them are...

I had a 3 point on my SUL Tattoo and switched to the turbo. The difference is not huge but noticeable especially rolling up. It is quicker to roll up with the turbo. Other than that, it feels a bit quicker to pitch about but flat spin tricks like the Taz, Slots, 540s etc. feel about the same.

After I switched to Reverse Turbo Bridle for my F kite, my comete goes from approv. 15% to 70% in the first trial.  Go figure.  :) :) :)  Now I'm planning to learn the clockwise Comete.   :)
