Sorry, that's a photoshop - the kites aren't really that size.

I was/am hoping these aren't actual kites but toys.... made from molded plastic etc....

it could be a photochop (spelling intentional) but I am hoping that such things really do exist.... would be a neat toy to have....

It is a Photoshop. The kites are full size but Tim's nowhere near that big.

Is this the sort of thing you're looking for ?

Unfortunately it's via a commercial site so... no link for you.  :-[

Or this (41cm wing span)?

Also commercially available, but PM me for details if interested.

or you could make a non-flying tiny model, like this 1:25 scale Outer Space:

This was an actual flying kite that I had, not a model...

Yes, that's a Prism Micron behind it.

I don't remember where I got it, but it was a fun little thing... I sent it to a friend as a gift, I thought he'd get a kick out of it.

Yes one of our old members was making mini's, he would reproduce any design you wanted for a price, which wasn't unreasonable considering the amount of work is pretty much the same as making a full size kite. That was the old forum though and I didn't save the info. He had some video's on You Tube a couple years ago but a quick search didn't find them either.

That is a Micro kite from Europe (germany mayhaps?)....they were being imported by Glenn Davidson in Massachusetts, but last I had heard he did not have of them...sweet kites...I am not certain how you do not create a windshadow with just your body when flying these little guys!

Yeah... don't know why I took offense to that post, other then the tone of the poster in prior posts. But it is incorrect.

You might want to drop Glenn (davisong-at-comcast.net) an email.  His site is still listing one in stock and he is pretty good about keeping it updated.

awesome!!! thanks guys......

I found glenn's site.... price is a little more than I want to pay for them .... not entirely looking for real flyable kites.... mostly looking for something realistic enough to help me with visualizing tricks and transitions etc...

The micro kites are cool....and pricey....but more pricey than needed in my book.....

a Micron from Prism would do well for you....and it flys really well...

micron is a little too big.... but certainly about the price i expected for such things.... tho from what I am seeing they are extremely accurate and agile.... (i got some infos about where they could be had direct)

I guess I can just put together the Jazz I already have somewhere in the closet and use that for what I am trying to accomplish... tho it won't exactly fit on my desk... then again.. neither would the micron...

Just for visualization?  Unless you need something "Cool" why not just buy soma poster board and a dowel to hold it in shape, a bit of hot glue and some markers if you want, a few bucks at the dollar store.

Or toothpicks, copy paper, and some scotch tape....throw on a little wire tied to the spine and WALA!

Mostly it was "hey these are cool!! and I could use them for..." other than that no real reason not to use a much cheaper and easily accessible material....

If you are looking for something for visualization and you want something ready made, you might want to see if Steve can still get his hands on one of the  HQ Window Kites (http://gwtw-kites.typepad.com/news/2008/06/window-kites.html) he used to sell.  Remember them being fairly reasonably priced.

Couldn't find it on ChicoKites, but still worth an ask.  Drop Steve an email.

Sam

Even the standard WALA (http://www.chicokites.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=300) is a bit large to be considered a mini-kite.  ::)  :D

I have one of those.  They fly in high winds...you can control them enough to do figure eights, and you can restart them after crashing even, just like a full sized kite.  It made a brief appearance in a video once.  But you cannot, regardless of what anyone says, trick these kites.

Mine sits in my office door window sill, reminding me I need to fly more.
