Post by: tpatter on January 06, 2011, 10:59 PM
Having some fun flying my Prism 4D in next to no wind on a sunny day in Seattle.  In no wind, its a fun kite for sure! :)

Wow, Tom, you surely found more tricks in yours that I found in mine. You would have to had flown one of these little boogers (4D) to apppreciate these tricks in the little wind that you were doing them. THe 4D jumps and zooms arcoss the window with just a step back and a stroke of the arms. What length lines were you using ?

That's inspirational flying! You make it look like you're flying a standard and not a UL (or is it a SUL?). I don't fly my Nirvana WW too much because it's so flexi but I'm stoked to try it again. I'm wondering if the same tricks are in the Nirvana as the 4D.

Thanks Tom  thats some nice flying.  I saw a few other 4D videos on youtube as well and it surpassed my initial preconception of what it can do. Its on my wanted list for a while now.

Just curious, have you tried to JL it? Is it remotely possible by any chance?

Tom…Wow...This is unbelievably beautiful!  We should get together again just for flying our 4D…

Thanks guys!  This is the kite that I won in VF16.

I was very surprised what the kite can do - more capable than I would have thought.  I only fly it in little to no wind (<1), but I'm glad that I have it for that.  The kite can also be flown indoors - we were playing with it this year at Seaside and some of the flyers enjoyed it to some of their other indoor kites.

It will JL, but not very reliably, at least for me.  So far, I have only been able to get 2 rungs on it.  The issue I have is in the 1/2 backspin backspin to turtle - the kite settles very slowly making it more difficult and breaking the flow of the trick.  I have heard that adding 2 grams on the tail helps this out, but I have not tried that.  This kite is basically stock - I set the bridle to 3 point and then moved the nose (AoA) back about 1/4 inch or so.  It's a fun kite to fly - everything I did in this video is pretty easy in low wind once you adjust to the nature of the kite.

Nirvana WW is much more trick capable in general, but I don't think it will go as low (0.25 or so) with such ease of flight.

Pretty short - maybe 40'.  I've tried it on longer lines and it does fine, just harder to see what is going on since it is so far away.  In low wind, the short lines give a nice connection to the kite.

Beautiful background makes you fly better. Your a lucky guy.. Although the guy in Colgone Germany does have some nice backgrounds to fly.  But it really looks like a peceful place to fly and you did it justice... ;)
