Title: Multiple Wala's on single line.....???
Post by: stringfly on March 17, 2011, 12:05 PM
I have a bunch of Wala's and wanting to fly in train or multiples on a single line.  I have tried a main line with them off of it with their own lines and that did not work.  They were out about 30 ft and still just wrapped the main line or tips ran into it and just went nuts.  What would be the best attachment points if I did multiple lines to each.  Thanks for any help.

what if you tied a line each from where the spreader meets the leading edge, and one from where the trailing leg on the bridle attaches to the kite. the two at the front would control left/right of the followers and the one in the back, pitch.

you could attach the rear line to the spine on the leader kite and attach it to the bridle on the follower kite (where it meets the sail) with a sheet bend knot.

just a thought. i'd try it, but i only have one aerobe.

Easiest way to link those should be to run a link line from the back side of the flying line attachment point on the lead kite to the attachment point on each trailing kite.  IT looks like its just a center T that you tie on to  not a bridle so it should be simple to link them

I tried using simple knots to link them it works. Larkshead the link line to the center-T.

Tried a single line thru the center T with each bridle larks headed to the main line in light air about 12 feet apart, (no tails)..... did not work very well.  Then added shared tails and it worked great !!!!! Tails made all the difference in bringing the bottom of the kite down and adding stablility.  THANKS FOR THE HELP !!!! ;D ;D

Hi Stringfly,

Glad to know it works out for you. Actually, the shared tails was born out of our laziness to keep the tails after flight. ;)

Any pics of your train WALA in flight.?

Will get some pictures this weekend.  Kite festival in Eureka Springs, AR this Saturday.  Also picking up a XL Wala and a Laima.  Looking forward to trying those.
