Dave,
Do you have a specific diagram for the bridle?  I am not sure about the inner leg... do the dimensions in the plan (65cm) include the 3.5cm for the turbo, or is the turbo in addition to the inner leg?  Thanks for any clarification.

NIce Dave.  I'll have to add this to the build list.  A bridle diagram would be helpful if you can make one.  I see in the pics you use pigtails at the center t are those included in  your measurements?

I found more frame specs here for the UL, zero and strong versions.  http://stuntkitepalermo.blogspot.com/2011/01/invictus.html (http://stuntkitepalermo.blogspot.com/2011/01/invictus.html)

The turbo is in addition to the inner leg (65+3,5). I'll make a specific diagram for the bridle soon. :)

The pigtails are included in the measurements, i use the pigtail i every bridle leg.

Had the same problem with the InvictusPDF_A4 so created a new set from the A0

see  http://www.extremekites.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=15188&view=unread#unread (http://www.extremekites.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=15188&view=unread#unread)  for a solution.

Thanks Dave for allowing us to use your kite design, very generous of you. The video of the Invictus at the cliffs of Cala Rossa is spectacular.

Cheers
Mat

The tail weight system was not one that I've seen before but it definitely works.
Thanks Dave for the great plans.

Solution A, with a Mylar strip (3 cm.) As reinforcement, side spine

like this:

Using that seam did you cut out 8mm from each edge?  when I stick the 2 halves together the nose seems really wide and the circle nose piece looks small.  But if I fold it over creating the B seam the nose appears to fit better.  But I'm not sure what the correct seam is suppose to be used.  Would assume that it would make a big difference since that is 1.6cm.

I also used "A" with a mylar strip on the back.
The plan has allready a 3.5mm seam allowance along the spine that makes a 7mm overlap (like all other seams) when you put both halfs together.

There is also a nose sewing pattern in 1:1 scale on the 2nd page of the plan. You can use it to compare the size

Hmm everything seems to line up.  For some reason it just didn't look right.  Thanx for the help.

Title: Re: Invictus plan for free
Post by: ozzymat on August 28, 2011, 05:25 AM
Solution A. without Mylar spine reinforcement.

If you have a look at the photos on Davide site you will notice only one run of zig zag stitching down the spine which suggest no Mylar spine.

What he does have are two small pieces of Mylar;
One which is the same shape as the Darcon lower spreader "T" reinforcement and sewn on the opposite side.
One small piece of mylar at the tail which I can only assume is required as the Darcon for the lower spreader "T"
does not run to the tail.

The plans and photos aren't clear on the nose so I used a piece of 50mm x 50mm Dacron folder in half to create a nose bag then put a piece of sports bag cut to the dimensions of the "Naso Invictus" circle on the plans to form the nose.

Yep just make sure when  you print you set it for 100% scale or even easier just take the file to a local printer.

Title: Re: Invictus plan for free

I've tried 2 different PDF viewers and neither one would open the file.
Maybe because its a rar file?

RAR is just the compressed archive use win zip to extract it.  IF you still can't get it check your e-mail I'll send  you the files uncompressed.

That is really fast for someone to build a full size kite this complicated.  Looking at the recent posting, the plan was just printed only a few days ago.  Impressive indeed and beautiful color selection as well.  Wondering how much one would charge to have one built and shipped in the US.  D

This isn't that complicated of a build.  Once you have all  your mats on hand it goes pretty fast once you get started unless it's your first build.

I will build the STD for sure, Since I will have the templates ready to go , I am also considering cutting an all white ghost, I was going through my fabric bag and found a roll of white icarex that i had completely forgotten about.

Liked my standard Invictus that much I built a Ghost version. Ok it's not a true ghost because of the grey panels but I like it like that.

If you like the standard you wont be disappointed if you build a ghost, It's just as good but does it in light winds.
