Title: Waisted Bandwidth
Post by: WinterDaze on July 17, 2011, 06:35 PM
Here's a post that says it like it is  ;)

Recently I picked up one of those little keychain video cameras.... 8)

Then I thought, I wonder...  ::)

 :-\

A bit of Bluetac™ and a zip tie later...

Warning: there's a reason this perspective is 'not popular'

7 Wrap Yo-Yo with unroll...

OMG! I should have watched this BEFORE dinner.... ;-)

Nice idea, how did you mount the camera on the kite? any pics of the contraption?

;) I warned you...

As to the rig:

All I did was put a couple of gm's of sticky putty and a ziptie as a failsafe onto the camera, it's a '808' Keychain/spy camera, looks like a car remote control. No photo's ATM, next time I play I'll snap a shot for you :)

Brilliant!

I've been looking forward to more kite POV kite porn, but so far the art hasn't advanced much. With the cameras so tiny I'd like to see some SUL type slow floaty stuff (from someone who likes that sort of thing)

Thanks for the entertainment!

Got to luv the pov.. I think we needmore info on the camera.  maybe some shots of how you mounted it...  ???

Nice going...

I had already been thinking about getting one of those tiny cams and mounting it to a Rev, but I think I would get a better quality image if I try with a GoPro HD camera, a little bit bigger but far better image; only problem is the GoPro is much more expensive and difficult to get in my country.

LOL ...  :D :D :D ... Love it

Those little camera's are available for a couple bucks on that auction site, I've also seen them at places like WalMart & Walgreen's for a bit more coin, I got mine at WalMart for like $15-$25 on a basket sale on the counter in the photo dept, wonder where it went?

FWIW:
Someone ought to do a split screen shot.  One half would be the kite-mounted camera, and the other half would be a ground-based view of the kite in flight.

I just like to be able to make some sense at what I'm looking at.

On the other hand, the video did start to get my stomach a bit wobbly.

Fun comments guys  ;D

The balance on the Talon wasn't thrown out that much by the added weight (a lot less than I was expecting), and thus on the video I have also captured flic flacs, duplexes, multi BS's, cascades and various 540 incantations along with some squares and circles. Trust me, at this frame rate and resolution you sooo don't want to see it ;) (if you say please I might do a quick compilation  :D)

you're on the money here, this is going to give the best results I think, out on some nice long lines  ;D

The angle of view from this rig seems to be around 40 degrees so it's no wide angle lens, feels like 60mm to me give or take.

 ;D Agreed on the wider lens Jim, keeping my eye's on the newer models, I've also got a mate to send me down a GoPro to have a play with.

Oh and the weight loss aspect of this program requires that you sit very close to the screen, either that or I can send you the whole 15mins of raw footage ??? now that.... that'll work...

Shane I think you're pretty close, once the sequence starts I think* we have a yo-yo, flow over to the downwards then flair to uproll, into the JL 2 steps, ends with multi BS 1 leg of a duplex quick flyout into a half axel to fade then into BS's in the other direction...
*who am I kidding, I get as lost as everyone else once it starts  ;)

I personally think you're all mad for liking it ;) but your nice words make me feel I haven't made a grave error in giving you a ride on my Talon :)

Cheers  ;D

@Coogee, nice use of negative space ;) very expressive.

@tpatters :) MWaHAhAAAAhaaa

@ Allan, A pleasure (i think)

@Danno  ::)
