Come one Come to the greatest light wind festival. Can you believe that The Roseville Kite Festival is 15. Plan for the bad music of Magical Musical Mystery. The judges will be from the same pool. Hope to see you there.

I'll have some of the new Prism single lines there.  Was hoping for a demo E3 but no luck.

Hope to see you there Jayson, the wind usually forgets to show up, but SOHR always makes up for that and keeps the event entertaining. Regardless there will be kites there capable of flying in Roseville winds. It's really not that bad though, I've always got in quite a lot of flight time.

Participation in the Magical Musical Mystery comp is mandantory, all in fun, judging is based on who brings the most candy to bribe the judges  :P

Last year's wind. It had it's ups and downs...

The big lull at about 1PM coincided with the Magical Mystery Torture Time.   ???   :'(

Nice graph Allen.  :D

And here I had hurried to put the tailweight and upper spreader back on the Widow Maker in time for my call, and flew it downwind to the staging area.

Silly me, where's a graph when you need one?

edit: Found the flier, last years official times were 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Lost the flier from last year, always a safe bet to say 12-4 but the Bells who organize the event will be there from sunrise until well after 6:00 in my experience. Us Chico area folks tend to show up around 9am and usually any fliers from the Bay area have already arrived. There has never been any other organized activities scheduled for that day in the past so you can fly all day without conflicts.

Park at the west end of the park near or in the school parking lot, that's where the large kite & comp field is setup, the east side where the small parking lot for the park and the bathrooms are located is the family area, the vendors and sound guys will set up along that small parking lot. The winds tend to come from the South to South/West.

So...what matter of big kites show up? I have a couple of small, big kites if needed.
Mike, do you have a role call started?

I'm looking forward to flyin with you guys.
2 more days, Dano!
Geo.

George, you'll likely need something that flies in light wind. I'll bring my Bulldog but there probably won't be enough wind to fly it.
Strange, only a few days to go and nothing from Bob or NotBob.

In the morning, some tend to throw up a few big SLK's (but JJ wont be joining us this year :>( ) You might be able to get your Jordon up for a bit if you wanted to.

I'll be there in 3 days, though!  ;) In any case, see ya on Saturday.

We always pack some of our SLK's, don't have anything BIG though, 81 Power Sled, 19' Delta is about as big as we do. Would sure be nice if these winds we've had for the last week would stay around, not the ballastic stuff but something reasonable.

Dean was up last Saturday & stopped in at GWTW to confirm Steve & Chris were going down.

Denny still want to carpool down?

I wasn't even suggesting that Bob was buying again. He was more than gracious to us once.

I was just thinking we might all get together again, maybe, after flyin'.

I might be pursuaded to pick up your dinner though, Steve.
You're still on that diet aint you?  ;D

There's a Mountain Mike's Pizza in Roseville. They make really good pies.
And then there's L&L Hawaiian BBQ.   :o

Hey Dano, not implying that you were casting about for a free meal ... but you are on track that I was  ::)

Not on a diet, I have a diet.  I can eat pretty much anything (with in reason) but Chris is a picky eater so she is the decider.

What ever the majority (and Chris) want is fine by me.

So its not so much the chicken katsu, but the 2 scoops rice & 2 scoops macaroni salad you need to avoid.   ::)

What ever the majority (and Chris) want is fine by me.

Wherever Mike & Rhonda stop is fine with me.  ;)

Car washed & packed at 11:15 PM, just gotta throw together a cooler, load up Denny, decide if I can make it to Gridley for gas or get it here, grab a breakfast burrito for the road and get outta here  :P

Call ya' in the morning Steve & Chris and see where your at. Bob & Chrissy are not going to be able to make it, have to be at her parents house to get it ready to sell, realtor wan'ts to "Feng Shui" it, LOL, after 46 years they are going to find out that if they had put the couch over there life would've been balanced and good  :D

Looking forward to seeing everybody, glad you can make it after all John.

Dinner - I'm easy, I'll find something to eat anywhere, years of being a bachelor teach you to not turn down any food set in front of you ... except maybe liver  :-X

The standard valley wind syndrome made the magical music-al mystery-cal mus..ic...tour...or, music-al magic-al...whatever, a challange. I think the contest may have been rigged  :-X
It was great flying with everyone, and thanks Dano for manning the camera and for the home brew  when I had my hands full.  ;)

This was the most fun I have ever had flying, that is to be able to fly with so much talented flyer's, I would like to thank everyone for their hospitality, and for making this newbie feel welcome. I can't believe the wind went total dead when it was my turn at the Musical mystery, if I was a little younger that run I had to do to keep my kite up, would have been a piece of cake, boy does my bad ankle's hurt today.
Again I would like to thank everyone for such a great time, Thanks Denny for letting me try out your kite, it is very smooth.

Thank you Bob, Notbob and all the SOHR crew for a fun time.   :-*

This really is Kite Party North. (not enough girls in bikinis though)

Fewer people got screwed by the wind gods in the mystery ballet this year. John and Denny should get bonus points for effort. The Music Randomizer gods smiled on a few people. George fielded a Quadrifoil and was rewarded with the Star Trek theme. Very cool. Steve got perfect TrickTail music (who was that?) and wowed even the pre-teen judges with some really nice flat-spinny stuff in honor of Brian Todd. I think I got the most fun music, and a bit of celebrity. At the end of the day I stopped at a convenience store and two of the young judges were at the counter buying big gulps. One spoke up "weren't you in the kite thing?" I nodded and said "Mighty Mouse". They both exclaimed "that was neat!" and on the way out the door one said "see you next year".  :)

Any little ego boost I can get, you know?  ;D  ??? ???

Great time, really good turn out. Better winds then they've had in some other years, although John (King-J) really did draw the short straw followed  by Denny. Got up many SLK's early but that didn't hold.

Also got to see many unique kites thanks to George, Allen & Brian who seemed to pull a new jewel out of one of their bags every half hour or so.
