Title: The Perfect Sport Kite Would Cost...
Post by: chilese on July 23, 2012, 12:29 PM
So let's just assume that some great kite designer in combination

with advanced materials and bridle adjustments came up with a sport kite that:

1 Could be flown indoors
2 Could be flown and tricked in winds up to 25 mph
3 Was robust
4 Used ordinary spars (in case you ever broke one)
5 Could be printed with whatever design your mind came up with
6 Could be silent or loud
7 Excellent precision
8 Pitch and spin based tricks were all beautiful
9 Whatever else you could think of

Now that someone actually did make the "next sport kite to save the world".....

What would you be willing to pay to get one?

$500?
1000?

Or would it just take all the fun away to have one of these things?

I guess we'd have to call it the Ultimate.

Don't think I'd buy one, but I'd sure try someone else's.

Is it also Dog proof and will it automatically vapourise Numpties who setup picnic's/play football underneath your lines?.......I'd pay a lot of money for a kite that would do that!

+1 on SKB´s $5, the standard spars should be worth that, but I'd assume the rest to be advertising hype given your parameters and valued accordingly.

But I have to ask, if such a kite could be made why wouldn't you buy one?

Mike.
I am most apprehensive to bring this up seeing as how Mike has already denigrated the thread.....................But,........Fearlae don't have semi light designations and are by far not demi-vented.......seems Kool-Aid can only be digested by superior humanoids with the proper enzymes and, to this date, known amnino acids necessary for procreation of true modern day freestyling.  I hereby rest my case.
Jim

PS:  Personally I would be willing to pay $700.00 for such a high aspect, tricking machine, and thus far, have......... on several occasions :(   But it makes me   :) ;D :D ;)

AND Satisfied :P

Chilese, do you have a hidden patent somewhere in your sleve?
Are you trying to make a market analysis for it?
 ;)

BTW, +1 on Hadge

It is indeed to be regretted that my comment should have caused people to take offence - once again - especially where none was intended. I am usually quite clear when I intend to cause offence so as to leave no room for doubt. However, in the spirit of good willing I have removed my comment and I see that others have pre-empted me in this action but rest assured I read and inwardly digested them.

Still... nevermind, eh ?

Mike.

Avg price for high end kites
  SUL  300
  UL    300
  STD  300
  Vent 300
-------------
Total 1200 for the full set

Would expect your do it all kite would be between 600 and 900.

The abiliy to print anything on it. Wow. I would print my wive's name on it. Tell her when I'm out flying i'm thinking of her.  Easy approval, plus more time flying  ;D

For a real price point, as pointed out above Skyburner & Blue Moon have pretty much set the bar as far as price for a top line kite here at $300. That's a comfort point for me, I haven't yet justified a more expensive kite no matter how much I liked it when test flying somebody else's.
