Title: Excellent Pet Food Review Website (Not Kite Related)

Well, it turns out, I have been feeding our cats very poor food.

If you have a dog or cat, you may want to read the reviews and

choose a food rated at 4 or 5 stars. I had been feeding our

cats a 2 star rated Iams.

This website gives a review, then lists pros and cons along

with the actual list of ingredients.

I'm going to the store tomorrow and getting one of the 5 star foods.

The writing is concise, informative and caring.

You can sign the guestbook (done), like on Facebook (done) and/or

donate whatever (which I will do after the food evaluation).

The website doesn't do every cat food, but it's only been around

2 years. And some of the foods rated 1 star will surprise you.

Considering my cats always help with bridle modifications, I need to

keep them in tiptop shape.

Very interesting John.

Unfortunately my cats are on prescription (yes, that's right, prescription) food at this point: no reviews for that stuff.

Still, a very useful site.

Thanks.

How do the cats like the new food. Two paws up?  8)

Interesting but I feel the author bases his findings weighed completely on the listed ingredients, I don't see any reference to the nutrition label (just like on people food). That is as important as the ingredients IMO, having had a majority of male cats and having had one suffer from what is similar to kidney stones you really need to watch the mineral and ash content. Males cats are prone to growing crystals that then pass through the urinary tract raising havoc on the way.

I look for high proteins & high fats, and also a high meat content like the author did since grains can add up to a high protein count that won't benefit your cat much. Don't worry kitty doesn't need a low cholesterol diet if they are otherwise healthy (same as you & me). I'm sure fiber is fine but the grains and fillers mostly pass through your cat undigested, they were strictly carnivores before domestication. But I now always look for a lower mineral and ash count since I much prefer male cats. I doubt I'll ever have another female, they are far too territorial and protective for my tastes.

I don't even eat 4 star food! :(

I was wondering what my fast food diet would be rated at.

My dogs food hit 3 stars, but she eats half her food from scraps if I had to guess.

Just a comment, Pet food regulations do not regulate the percentage of euthanized pets that can be used in pet food.  That's right,  dead pets are OK in pet food and they are a large part (spelled billions of $s) of the industry.  That is why it is important to require human grade ingredients.  Also tumors etc are OK to add to pet food.  IMHO, it is very important to make sure the product you use does not contain any thing you wouldn't put in your own diet.

I'm not a  natural foods wacko or anything else, but just believe our pets don't need to eat their own kind or diseased animal parts.

I use wellness core original for 2 of my dogs and wellness super five for one dog that reqires less protein.

Regards,
Don Tuff
