yeh it only works if you have enough handles. i have many line sets and only a handful of handles that i use.  So if you starting off and have 1 or 2 sets it deff works.

Just to add to the mix...

Revolution Tutorial - Line Management (quad line stunt kite) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cuw3vBD50hs#ws)

End of the day, it's ALL about whatever works for YOU.

Takes me about 3 minutes to set up or break down using the technique in the video...
Far as I'm concerned, no way, no how should it take someone more than 10 minutes.

Why? That's good flying time, why waste time on gear? :)

unless you lose a winder!  ;D

4 winders?? I'm tired just reading that!! ??? I used to wind one pair at a time, with both pairs on 1 winder, but after John kidded with me about doing it that way, I tried his method!! Haven't had any issues since!! ;D Setup and take down just take minutes now and I'm up and flying - fast!! Secret though is - do it the same way - everytime!! Once you find something that works for you - duplicate it all the time!! ;)

I use 2 winders for quad lines, and have for a couple of months. never ever  a tangle, or a twist, takes about an extra minute to wind and unwind, and no adventure once the lines are hooked up. I just launch and fly. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, is my motto.

I'm a handle winder. No winders to lose and it's quick and easy once you get the system to it.
The drawback is if you don't pay attention to the winding and unwinding, the whole wrap comes off in a huge, tangled snarl. You also need a dedicated pair of handles for each line set.

I tried handle winding a couple of times, but if you let is sit for too long, the handles get all sorts of line marks in the foam and deteriorate faster.

I get the line marks too, particularly where I tuck the pigtails in between the handles, but I've had this set for quite a while and there is no deterioration in the foam.

We use several different line sets, so winding on the handles is not for us. We have both used John's method, with a couple of small modifications, for many years with very good results. Never more than five minutes unless I try to "shortcut" John's method. It never ends up as a shortcut.

^ I use several different line weights and lengths too, I just use more sets of handles (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v390/skb/misc%20stuff/random_stuff/Im_a_handle_winder.jpg).  ;)
Some of the handles are different lengths and I find that helps with certain wind conditions.
