Title: Rev flying w/ a tail
Post by: Dano on August 19, 2012, 11:17 PM
I finally did it...
Tried a tail on my Rev today.
The fuzzy tail has always been good to me on light wind days with my Ascension,
and i thought i'd give it a try on the Rev..

Actually not bad, it adds a bit of color to the sky and quite manageable too.

Jynx and Moegeo should recognize the kite.  ;D

The tail came from here..

And if the tails drops in front of the kite in a reverse hover? Tangling the bridles  ::)

I have had great success with 25ft tails (Gomberg Transition of course) on the bottom of each vertical.

I have never ever gotten them tangled.  It is the perfect length.

Looks great too!

they should really not get tangled as the tails will be hanging out BEHIND the kite....not in the same plane.....

There are a number of people that fly indoors with tails and they do just fine....

I have had ribbon tails come in front of the Rev in lower winds

near the edge of the wind window.

My most viewed picture is a Rev with tails:

I enjoy flying with tails and do so with several of my Revs... Here's my Night kite with four tails.

Yes, they do tangle at times but I've found that maneuvering them loose again, while flying, is a good learning/skill exercise!

Sure draws attention to the kite!

Tonycarl flies his revs with tails ties to the LE caps.  Looks nice in prop spins.

Yup, 48 foot skywriter tails, I've also used 96 foot transion tails on real windy days. I find flying with tails on a rev makes it slower and smoother , never had a problem with tangles, kids love them too :)

And i really like that Xtra-vent of Jynx, too.
Is that a custom?

The Xtra vent is a Bazzer Pro kite. A high-wind Rev made by Bazzer and a standard-order from any Rev distributor.

...and one SWEET maneuvering Rev in high (and moderate) winds!  ;D
