I just bought this from REI and it seemed like a good buy with all the diff things it can do.

I've been trying to get it enough sun to charge the battery up to full but every time i put it in a backpack or put it down somewhere, the radio dial switch gets turned on an i lose the juice and mu radio presets. >:(.
Anybody else got on of these?
Oh yeah dont put this under a hot lamp cause the plastic covering the solar panel will shrink. :o

I keep one of their slightly older models in my emergency survival kit.  I love the model I have, and I use it often to listen to NOAH weather radio stations during bad weather here in the Pacific N.W. as well as using it for a regular radio.  I use a couple of larger Rubbermaid totes to hold food, water, light, and other items I may need along with a large first aid kit just in case.  Even my 5 year old daughter is all set as well.  She even has her own 3 person tent, back pack, sleeping bag, water bottle, and a small tent just the right size to take her Barbie's camping with...LOL  Before having my daughter I never really worried about having to survive anything, but having a young child sort of changed my attitude about surviving something, so I put together a 2 week package if needed.
