Title: First official weekend of Kite Season in the northeast...
Post by: RobB on September 13, 2012, 06:50 AM
Caution... Wasted Bandwith Ahead.

I'm getting tired & frustrated trying to learn new tricks, so I figured I'd just go out and fly a kite that's fun to fly. The wind was pretty low, but smooth. I really like the way this kite looks when it flies, so I figured I'd share it.
If you have a spare 5 minutes, enjoy. Full screen it and turn your speakers up...  8)

First official day looks real good.  How about Norm's FFF's with that Fade it's simple from there.  I finally got my head on last night.  Crazy wind for a week now.  Last night was real rough at the Wednesday Nite Fly.  But I finally kept my feet together and stretched my arms forward when doing a FFF.  He must be at the shore himself.

Nice to see Rob.  I will look forward to videos during the season.  Funny the Beach were I fly is now empty until Spring. I think I will declare it Vertigo's new Season...  :D :D :D :D .

The guys were surf kiting the other day with gusting winds to 20 mph.  I could only sit and watch...  Kites in the car.. The north winds start up again...

P.S.- How about some Hendrix

Smooth song, smooth wind, smooth flying.

The Elixir gets better with age.  :)

Thanks.

I gotta get me one of those for the very same reason someday. Just a pleasure to watch.

Glad you all enjoyed it, I sure enjoyed getting the beach back from the summer time beach-goers. 90% of my flying since May has been inland, and I sure appreciate what inlanders have to endure and still remain enthusiastic about kite flying.

John, didn't you make a VF entry flying an Elixir ? I'm tempted to take a clip from last weekend's  session and enter it in the current VF round.  :-\

It sure is a pretty flying kite, I think it might get bumped back into the 'A' bag for a while. Even if it can't do 'all' the tricks...

Great Video, I can't wait until we start getting some consistent here in central Indiana again. Looks like that kite is a pleasure to fly

Nice flying!  The Elixir is such a nice looking kite.  The one I regularly fly is a real beater that I got for $40 on craiglist but when it's in a blue sky with the sun behind it it's just beautiful.

Nice flyin Rob.  The Lix is still one of my top all time kites.  BTW you may be thinking of my Lix VF entry.

I did do an Elixir VF entry also.

Although nothing memorable.  ::)

John, while you say it was nothing special, to a newb it's a hell of a lot and it's an Elixir. I may have to post a want ad for one. I forgot how cool looking they are.

John, yes, that's the one. I can't believe that was almost 10 rounds ago. That kite is stunning.

Anthony... you've got a matching 'Lix to mine. I guess the Spectrum color theme was the most popular.

I am tempted to use a piece of this footage for the current VF round, but I got something a little bit better after shooting these clips...

I do think that the contestants should have to enter how many times they

did their "entry" until they got the one submitted.

My Elixir entry was done on the first attempt.

Could have done better, but this was more of what my flying was like

at the time.  :)

You know what ? I think just keeping the kite in the frame is something to be proud of when making an entry. My entry wasn't accepted that round because of too much Out Of Frame (OOF). I have about an hour's worth of batteries to capture my entries. Sometimes that's not even enough time to catch 60-90 seconds of in-frame flying.  8(

I'm willing to admit that sometimes it looks like it more than others, but my son Eli always does his in one take.
