Post by: rudyy on October 14, 2012, 06:55 AM
Does anyone know where to get the rubber fitting for the wing tip protection?

Steve sells the endcaps you need for that.  If you don't know the size tell him what kites or frame rods they are going on and he'll get you what you need.

They're just vinyl endcaps:

If you're asking for them for your Fearless, they are not necessary.

I use screw protectors, you can find them at most hardware stores like home depot, Lowes etc. I usually puth these on my wingtips to protect the tensioner strings and sometimes I even add some heat shrink to cover the lines between the wing tip and the sail. Be very careful with the lighter though!!

I use some heat shrink to cover the lines between the wing tip and the sail.
Slide it up the pocket of the sail & end it just up from the bottom of the nock so you create a smooth continuous no catch surface.

P.S.
Use hot water just off the boil to shrink the tube rather than a lighter though!

I use heat shrink also but as Kev warns do not get your nocks to hot. DO NOT ask how I know this

DO NOT ask how I know this

That begs the question "how do you know"
In keeping with the topic I'm sure...

Try the usual tool for heat shrink. It's a heat gun=plastic melts. Use your imagination lol :'(

Kevspilly, that is awesome! I may need to refit some of my kites in that manner.  Thanks for making a good idea even better!!
I'm also going to try the hot water instead of my lighter as well, though I have had no issues with doing it with said lighter. It does sound a bit safer for the kite though.

As told ask Steve for vinyl caps, as for heat shrink tube I simply use a hair dryer: no danger at all only good results  ;)
