we saw this up with the octopi..  pretty cool kite!

Rolf Zimmerman's dragon....there are three....BIG...1400 pieces in each one.......he also made the lobster/flying bear/sea horses/sea stars as well........

thanks  for that info..  I talked to Susan Gomberg about it and she told me who made it bu i couldn't remember.. it's really a stunning kite..

Yep -- made by Rolf Zimmerman. I believe this design was the German National Champion twop years ago.

Now owned by Dale Ray of Olympia Washington. Definitely a show-stopper!

Dale asked us to bring the kite back for him from France.

Hey Dave,

How does it fly....looks like a lot of different levels and inlets need to fill for it to fly correctly.

Do you have any other pics?

Not a lot of photos, Patrick.

The lift is generated in the wings. The head is attached to a lifter line and tends to wander -- which makes the dragon look like he is searching the ground below. And the body is stabilized by a large drogue.

Not a large bulky kite. Very delicate. Nice piece!!
