Title: R-Sky Krystal Open Source Available?
Post by: Lou on April 07, 2013, 07:14 PM
I was wondering if there was an Open Source Project Kite similar to R-Sky Krystal?  I am thinking about purchasing the Krystal as it is similar to the Reactors.  If I can try to make something like the Krystal first I can cross over some of the Reactor framework for flight testing purposes and decide if I still want to stay with Precision kites or migrate to the Freestyle kites.  Just wondering and I'm still searching kite plans as we speak.  ;D

That's a nice kite and good size.  I was also looking at the Le Virus which looked close in shape to the virus dimensionally but I guess is still smaller than a FULL size kite at 8ft wingspans.  I still need to focus on completing my Le Quartz but this is sooooo addicting making sails.

Very nice kite, using Translate Web page tools are not as easy or clear as one would expect!  ;)

Maybe You should try the Sixth Sense by Dave Equizzi. This is great full size polyvalent kite.

What's the wingspan on the SS?  Is it about 96 to 102in?  I'm at work right now and can't research the specs as well as I would like to!  :'(

There are a few home builds around

Sixth Sense

Invictus

Vortex

Le Organic

Magnet

B'zar   Check out Sugarbakers thread on this forum

Kite Chemist has a couple

P2

Essence SUL

David Equizzi has a site with the SS and Invictus and a couple of others

and there are more but ...

The Sixth sense is a good full size kite and I really like the Vortex from Christian Derafat as a fun
smaller trickster. The Quartz build will give you the basic skills and there is a lot of good info on this section of the forum. Have a look for Sugarbaker and photobill both give great how to info.

100" are 254cm, not 245cm
The SS is not a fullsizer by definition (uLE only 71,5cm)

Sixth Sense has 245cm which gives 96.4566929 inches. In my opinion it is full size kite.
i wrote "about 100in" because in my opinion it is close enough :)

Well, the reason I was looking for a full size was to avoid chopping down spars into so many different lengths.  The cost of sail making is just a fraction to the airframe.  I could make many different sails if I could use the same 1 or 2 frame sizes for test fitting.

I thought the B'zar plans were put on hold, until further notice ...by the builder due to him not being satisfied with his latest prototype performance. Has that status changed?

My mistake! I was thinking of the Baxtard! Got it confused with the B'zar!   :-[
