Title: Removing stain on Icarex sail
Post by: Michel on May 21, 2013, 04:07 AM
Hi all,

Is it possible to remove stains (probably from the black bridle line when the kite was stored) on a white Icarex sail ?

Without damage to the sail of course.  ;)

Thanks in advance for your advices.

NikWax Tech Wash (http://www.nikwax-usa.com/en-us/products/productdetail.php?productid=268) Is probably the only thing I would trust.  Not sure about availability in France.

This might be a fine time to replace the bridle with a white one.  ;)

ATB,
Sam

Try an Oxi spray (OxiClean or similar).
I have removed stains with it in the past. It may not remove 'all' of the staining... but will fade it out!

A prominent custom kite builder told me he uses lighter fluid.

lighter fluid, naptha, napthalene, and dry cleaning fluid (one of them) All the same thing! still I cant see me scrubbing my bridle stained masterpiece rev with it

if its got any paint or dye sublimation printing on that rev then just be very careful.  Lighterfluid or any of the variants work great for getting stains out without damaging the coating.
