Title: Loud!
Post by: adx1592 on June 27, 2013, 06:53 AM
Hey guys,
Vert and I are flying pairs now and we were wondering about some loud kites. What, in everyones opinion, is the loudest kite out there, or one of them? Any info would be awesome. I have a few (all old school) in mind, but could afford to explained the list a bit!

Thanks,
Devin/Vert

you could easily make any kite louder by adding a buzzer strip if that is what you are looking for.....

grab a cassette tape and unspool a bunch of feet of it.....then tie one end on....and pull the tape across an open area and while trying to keep it flat (no twists) attach the second end....you can make a heck of a lot of noise that way......

I love the roar of NSR's, especially when you get 2 or 3 going in a good wind!

Sweet! The NSR is certainly on my list. Anyone have experience with the BLK?

+1 for the North Shore. We fly them (Kona, Radical or VIP, depending on the wind) with the team, and 4-5 of them roaring together definitely makes people look up and watch!

The NSR will definitely make peoples heads snap around..

how about NBKs?

I have NSR's and a few Wasps.  Both are very loud but I would have to say the NSR would be the better choice for team flying and noise.  The Wasp puts out some noise but it gets a little fast and can be twitchy in the stronger winds.  The NSR is rock solid, smooth and steady with tons of noise.

If you do get NSR's, re-frame them with Rev 4 wrap rods and you will be amazed.

Whats that?

The NSR would be cool, but its just a matter of getting ahold of 2 that are the same age, condition, matching colors, etc. kinda a longshot?

Also, what about Griffins?

Sorry about all the questions everyone, when I was around 4 ish years old people were flying these and I was mostly flying HQ and Skyburner so I dont have much knowledge on the subject.

i remember Griffins being quieter...
you could also search out some Shanti Allegros...they made some noise too!

My Chicago Fire Bee's & Flames are pretty loud.  Of course the NSR like everyone has mentioned already.

...the LD Tiger II gets pretty noisy but you need lots of wind!  Doubt you could fly pairs with speed kites though. ;)

So you want two that match exactly or are just the same kite?

I was thinking of redoing mine with Skyshark Black Diamond standard rods.

Any good stunt kite back in the 1990s, with a straight leading edge and no leach line, make some good noise.  The Top of the Line Hawaiian Team Kite and North Shore Radical are great choices.  Just make sure the design uses standoffs.  Sorry I can make any additional recommendations, since all my 1990s kites were quiet.

I flew Gamelord's reframed NSR and was amazed.  ???

Have not reframed mine, but is one my list of future projects.

Agree I have a stack of Fire Bee's, and my Griffin stack has good sound but the Bee's are louder

Most of TOTL early kites are quite loud,

I would add the Geo Sport, the Force 10, a nice crisp Fire Dart and a Bob Child's Wizard to this loud list as well!!

Great stuff and happy winds!!     ;D

NSR and most of the Masque series would be my first choice,

partially because I also like the way they look.

Of the still produced kites, the Level One Gentleman is also extremely loud when tuned for precision.

Couldn't find a video without music, guess that is for a reason :)

But here you can hear it over the music.

the same one hows flying this part  direct link (http://vimeo.com/46737945)

BTW: this Kite is a loud one too (take a look \/ ). If you give him 50 Meters line you have a fantastic pair kite - we had flown Pair with a Fury and a Hugo. It works fine.

The Level One Gentleman is a really nice team kite thats got a nice roar to it.   LevelOne Gentleman - Berlin Tempelhof on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/12420112) Wills saber 2 had a nice low turbo muffler sound to it but not too loud.

Get Jon to have a couple Widowmakers made up with straight leading edges (No taper and no spine curvature) and no leach line. Leave the Mylar and binding off the trailing edge and just do a double fold trailing edge with patches for the standoffs, They should roar fine plus the added drag would add precision and slow the kites for team work while keeping the tricks. Love some half axels or cascades in the center when the kites are coming right at each other.
