Title: Your ALL TIME Favorite Videos
Post by: tpatter on June 14, 2009, 03:42 PM
Folks,

I just watched this one again today, I just keep coming back.  Its the combination of the music, the flying, the setting - very sweet!

What are some others that you keep coming back to watch?

Very nice flying. A question: at about 1:15 in the video (right after a JL) . . . is that a Torpille . . . or just a smoothly flowing Comete?

looks like a slow controlled comete ... executed very well too ... ;D

That QPro SUL (dualline) is one of my favorites, and that Talon UL is one of my new favorites. SWEET !

Don't forget Stoked in the Park videos. They are top of the list for me. Just want to get some better quality copies.

Amsterdam Tricks Clinic.. Masque/XMasque/Impact/Mayet.. Maybe the most important (from a tricks perspective) kite video ever done.

ABW Stoked October 2004.. Andy wailing on the Gem, plus a lot of fun media high jinks and great music work by him as well.

Rekindle.. Paul O. Gausel on the Nirvana.
RekindleII.. Very high quality vids at the beach, great flying.

Double 00 Indoor 2004.. Gregory Reynes.. unfrickin'believable.

New Mix.. Nirvana/Debray
So Freestyle.. KrystalFX/Debray

Sam Krystal.. Krystal/Sam Roger

Goth.. Machine/RonG

Just a few.. there are Sooo many..

Yup, for on-line videos, the Mayet Amsterdam Tricks Clinic is still a good view after all this time.

Another online fave is the KrystalWW pairs in the snow with Laura and Samuel. Nice flying, nice scenery & nice camera work. It's my go-to civilian video.

For DVD, the Trick or Treat from the Benson Nuts is hard to beat.

For Oldskool VHS, it's a tie between Flexi's Tricky Flickery and Prism's Trick Show. The music is so aweful in Trick Show I tend to think of it as a silent film.

Top of the heap in any format is the riverbed flying by Martin in the Tricktail Feeling vid. Great stuff.

Too many great videos to mention but speaking of the Krystal WW there is this one which is very nice. Zen-ness and relaxing. Literally tricking in "bullet time" slow mode.

Those must be the slowwwest slot machines every caught on camera :)

Yeah well, if we are bringing up the old "buy it in a store and plunk it in the VCR" stuff then definitely Tricky Flickery is my fav.

Flight School III has to be mentioned too in that case.

Trick Or Treat.. I watch it quite a lot, especially Tim's segments. It's a must have.

There are some nice French discs, none of which play very well on any of the machines around here.. someday.

Fixed with apologies.  :-[

Sam Krystal.. Krystal/Sam Lewis
I am sure Sam can do Lewis' but his last name is Roger.  ;)

My favourite is still the Gemini / Deepspace Mix video that you can see on the Benson site or download from the Bensontwins page.  I've spent a bit of time with the Gemini and appreciate the difficulty of a lot of those moves on the Gem, particularly the comete.

Loads of great stuff out there, but if you don't have this one in your archive, get downloading:

http://www.kitehouseserv.de/download.php?download=mock2.wmv (http://www.kitehouseserv.de/download.php?download=mock2.wmv)

The quality is good, the file is huge, and there is no better pairs flying on video than you find here.  Johannes and Chris demonstrate just how far TP in northern Europe has really come in the last few years.  You can see in Chris' section a true seasoned competitor: accurate perfect trick flying with zen.  And in Johannes' section, you see what happens when someone with a bit more fire in his belly gets really good at what we do.  There are times when you think the kite might just shatter as he shows it who's boss.  Tricking with authority.

If you have not seen this video, I GUARANTEE you will not be disappointed.  (First 2 minutes is a bit overdone, and the music might not be for everyone...but the flying is just mindblowing.)

These are the same pilots that took 1st and 4th individually and 1st in pairs as Nuff & Nunder at Stella Plage TP in France this year, winning over the pair Version (the dream team of Mayet and Debray), among others.

We are talking about high level pairs flying...synchronous cascade >> comete cascade >> snap lazy or refueling >> taz, and comete kick turns.  It's stuff that folks imagine is possible, but don't ever bother attempting.  Not to mention the individual segments have some sick sequences as well.

obi

Some highlights are N&N (3:42 - 5:23), Johannes (10:43 - 12:10  :D ), N&N again (18:10 - 21:32  :o).  All of Chris' and Ollie's flying is great as well, of course.  For me, I just love the aggression in Johannes' style...the last clip at 24:31 - 24:44 is just plain sick  >:(.

I would def have to agree with you on this one Tom!
This video could very well be the reason i even started flying stunt kites.

For sure, Adam!  :)

You appreciate it evenmore if you have ever flown there.   It's right on the Puget Sound so you often get sweet wind if it is blowing the right way; but, except for when the tide is out,  there is little to no flyable beach there at all.

Of course, perhaps that part of the reason why he is in the water, I suppose!  :)

I'd love to see an HD version of this.

Okay, this is going to read like a suck-up kinda post, but I swear... it's the truth.  I had *no* idea that dual line kites even existed. I was just meandering YouTube one day and I stumbled upon the following video. Pure magic.

Prism Zephyr, 1st Flight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBB0_QimiS0#)

This video lead to a bit of research, which lead to this forum.... which lead me to understand that this was Steve's video.
