Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Well, I've been away from the forum and from flying for several years and the kite scene sure has changed!  Steve is working through some serious life events (my thoughts are with you!), Kite Connection is now just another boardwalk kite shop, Blue Moon has closed it's doors, my post count reset to zero.  About the only constant is John Chilese!   Cheesy   For the life of me, I don't even know where you could buy a Benson, R-Sky, etc. these days.

So, I'm assuming the kite arms-race has slowed a lot ... I left in the middle of the French Revolution when a new hot kite came out every other week ... is this a true statement?  I wouldn't want to miss out on something fantastic, after all!

In the bag now (off the top of my head):

  • Benson Minigem
  • Blue Moon Mako (original)
  • Blue Moon Mamba
  • Level One Easy Light <-- re-framed with 2PT
  • Level One Easy Vent
  • Level One Level Two
  • Level One Black Jack
  • Level One Amazing
  • R-Sky Frenezy
  • Something French I can't remember ... R-Sky Krystal FX, I think?
  • Aerostar Sano SS
  • Andy Preston Psycho
  • A couple I sewed myself.  At least one turned out pretty nice.

Any new kites that I just "have to have" in this stable?

Anyway, it's good to be back!

The arms race is still on.

It's just gone underground.

A lot of semi-home builders these days.

Welcome back.

Hi guy.

Hi, John.  Good to be back.  How's the desert treating you?  Ironically, my wife and I ended up moving to Santa Clara.  Know anybody that still hangs out at Shoreline?

Bummer! I just moved way from Sunnyvale and Shoreline Park. Head over to Half Moon Bay some time.

Welcome back!

Deal!  We like to pop over there once in a while for Lobster Rolls at Sam's.  No reason not to bring some kites along!

The wind range is slightly lower.  I didn't notice a huge change in character, though a more skilled pilot may have better insight.  I made the change because the original center "t" was torn.  It was a good excuse to upgrade, but mostly I did it so it would break down smaller for travel.
