One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

A post in the SULs thread caused me to think of this question.

I think everyone has their go-to Kite, Me included, but each of my 6 Kites are different, My two recent purchases, both Talons one a UL and the other a Standard, they both respond in a different way, the standard is much quicker in response, I also have two WM Standard, one a custom sail and the other a Production sail, they also are different in their responses. So do you really ever have the right kite?

Yeah, I've stopped looking.
My Talon set fits me just right.
In fact, I've emptied my bag of everything else.  Wink

In the right winds my Soul fits the bill, but that doesnt stop me trying new stuff, or pulling something else out of the bag just for the hell of it.
I still havent quite nailed a SUL or vented yet despite having a number of really close attempts.

Its not always about a kites capability with me either, its often more intangible than that.
Pulling off a series of tricks with my QPro SUL always gives me a bigger smile than the same thing with my Exile for example.
Hard to explain, its probably just me.

I know exactly what you mean with the Qpro SUL and Exile.  The Exile almost give some tricks up compared to the QPro.  I'm sure it has some to do with the difference in mass and the fact the SUL was designed as a comp kite. The SUL requires very precise inputs and I don't have them all the time, where the Exile is more forgiving.  So I know what you mean when you nail a series on the SUL, it feels like I'm actually "getting" this kite stuff.

IMHO, I do not think there is a perfect kite except for a given wind condition and a given set of tricks. The problem with a perfect kite is the perfect pilot. Maybe the perfect kite is 20% the kite and 80% the pilot. If you don't know how to do a JL. If you fly a Talon, DS, QPro or a Beetle, you still can't do a JL. The pilot who can do a JL on a beetle can probable after 5 min will be able to do a JL on any of the other kites.

Yes, some kite seem to work better for you than others, but that is the easy way out. Learn to feel what the kite is trying to tell you and you can fly any kite.

I finished my purchases after my full set of Widow Makers...but then along came the new Infinity and I made the mistake of flying it.  The Infinity now has room next to my WM's in the A bag and I have to look between the two and scratch my head trying to figure out which one I want to put in the air.

"The Right Kite" is a moving target. I think over the years I've had at least half a dozen "right" kites that I swore I would fly forever and would be buried alongside me.

I think the Dot Matrix held on longest to that place but it isn't there today.
