Finally got a first flight this afternoon on the BM Muse that's been riding around with me for a week.  Just after a take off I noticed some "dry grass" drop off the tail of the kite.  A minute later I realized it was a bit of grass but the tail of the spin had fallen off.  Landed the kite and spent 20 minutes walking around trying to find the "needle in the haystack".  Finally gave up, wound the line and broke down the kite.

Took one more circle as I was walking to the car and Wa La spotted the spine end piece.

But I need some help here so it does not happen again.  The Velcro strip on the tail that wraps over the spine does not seem wide enough to cover the spine and firmly attach the the velcro along the sides.  Afraid the lost and found is going to repeat itself.  Am I not going about this right?  Wrap the sail end around the end of the spine to tighten the sail and press the velcro down around the spine to the other velcro.  Doesn't seem to be but about an eight  inch on either side where the velcro connects.

There is a tunnel under the velcro strip that is sewn to the kite.  The spine extension goes through the tunnel, then the flap can make full contact with the velcro.

Hmmm.  Seems odd.  There should be plenty of velcro surface area to hold the spine end together.

Be aware there is a 'pocket/tunnel' between the sail fabric and 1st piece of Velcro sewed onto the sail.  The spine extension slide through the tunnel and into the spine.  Then the velcro 'tail' is flipped up and over, pulled taught, and pressed firmly against the mating Velcro strip.  

The only time I've had this fail is once in big wind I should not have been flying in.  Ken suggests tying the extra leech line ends around the extension to keep from losing it in the event the velcro does come loose.

Well I went back out today with the Muse.  Found the tunnel.  Wow, that makes a difference.  Enjoyed the kite.  Winds were from 2 to 7 and it flew very nicely.
