I received a polite and informative email from Jim yesterday. We've met a few times at Kite Parties and I've photographed the new Skydog kites for him.
Here is an excerpt from his email on the included lineset of the Thunderstruck:

Our entry level kites have been offered with that line set because of the price point issue we are up against in shops and therefore the choice of dacron. You might find that to be a common occurrence with lower priced entry level kites.
We will add copy to the header that explains better line is recommended for optimum performance. And we'll offer a quick reference on how to check/adjust line length prior to flight.
I know that all of us at Skydog are sorry to hear about your disappointment and we want to send the young man you helped out (or you) a new spectra line to use with that kite.
Please let me know where to send the line set and we'll get one out ASAP.

The kite in question was under evaluation and not purchased so I wrote back to Jim thanking him for the offer but explaining it wasn't needed.
Jim's promise to add copy explaining the line and his overall demeanor in this remind me once again that there are many good people on the business side of kiting.
