Welcome to the GWTW Forum.

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

The French sure are into Kite Events! Even back in "the day" in places like Wildwood ...there weren't that many competitors and kites participating, that I can recall! I counted 34 duel-line stunters in their mass ascension/flight. That was AMAZING!
Thanks for sharing!

[...] I counted 34 duel-line stunters in their mass ascension/flight.

In the video, the speaker says "trente-six pilotes" (36).

More Mega Team vids:

This one shows the teams launching and joining up. Gives a good view of what it's like on the ground too. Stampeding team members! This kind of flying ain't easy.

Very Nice. I found Team Evidence and Team Airzone out of the bunch. I can't believe there wasn't a catastrophic crash with all those kites in the air.

Looks like Evidence got off to a rocky start in the mega fly. Man, that would scare the **** out of me. Scotty's been to Berck twice before, so I'm sure they just reset and dove back in again. You gotta be prepared for anything to fly in such a scene!

Yeah, also the speed of their kites may have been an issue with a bunch of slow moving Fury's in the sky. Those Nirvanas fly much faster.

I'm also amazed by all the spectators watching the event/events! Wouldn't it be nice to see this large of a crowd at a kite event here in USA.

You Americans need to travel more  Grin

Berck certainly leads the way with number of participants and crowd numbers, but it isn't alone there.  Dieppe, Bristol, Cervia, Scheveningen, Bintulu, Cha'Am, Vung Tau, Pasir Gudang, Bali (oh, Bali... the BIGGEST crowds I've ever seen!!!) to name just some of them.

And if you talk about festivals where there aren't the modern sports kites doing megateams, Aceh, Guatemala, quite a few in Japan... heck even Festival of the Winds at Bondi Beach gets around 50,000 spectators.

It is REALLY good being among that number of people who are all there to see kites!
