One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Does anyone out there have one of the Bubble Wand Hubs that Kite Studio (US one) used to make for bubble machines?
I need to make a bubble machine....and am hoping that someone might have a spare hub that i could grab.   Steve F closed his doors, and it really seems now for good....

If i knew how to design i could probably have the entire bubble wheel 3d printed...but then i am a biologist and drawing does not work so well for me Wink
Do you know how to do that high falutin design stuff? can i compensate you for some design time??

the kite studio page on them: http://www.kitebuilder.com/fittings/bubble.htm

Wouldn't a round disc with a few holes drilled it and 12 bottles of 69cent bubbles give you what you need to complete the project?   Roll Eyes

Or... a bubble machine:

I have one of the rigs you are discussing, but the suggestion of a drilled ring is vastly superior to my set-up.  Thin light aluminum or even the steel bottom of a coffee can could be used effectively, it doesn't have to machined by a gun-smith.

It looks like a plastic tinker toy hub. A hardware store would have a wooden disc like a cabinet door knob, or a spool from thread. just drill a bunch of holes around it.

What created the air flow that is needed to make bubbles?  A fan?
Do you have the motor for turning the wheel?
I guess the question really is do you need to make the whole thing or just the wheel?

okay....so...did a bit of digging....Richard Amirault up here in Massachusetts has long hosted up Felix Cartagena's plans....and i dug that website back out....Richard uses a rubber stopped with holes drilled in and i think i like that idea......solid grip....removable easily.....
going to try it out...

Jim-bo. yep you put a small fan upwind of the hub with the wands....the hub is turned by a ~20rpm motor as well constantly dipping the bubble wands into bubble juice.....

Like a bung from your local wine making supply shop, I have tons of them for my carboys and never would have thought of them for making a bubble machine, but would be perfect easy on easy off the shaft as well as the wands without glue or screws.

I was given this bubble machine a dozen or so years ago.
Can't remember who made it.
Works great! Lots of different size bubbles.
