hi fella's
whats the chances of mark reed @ prism designing a new (u.s.a made? sport kite(some thing spectactular) and bringing one out in a year or so?
if we could get enough interested shown from fellow kite pilots on here he may be inclined to do some thing ?
is it worth while emailing mark reed @ prism about the idea ?
i used to luv the old prism kites like ozone, elixr, illusion 12k e.c.t.!!! Sad
i like the old design, quality, build of the u.s.a made kites they used to make!!,the mylar panels, the multi stand off positions, multi bridal set up for low/higher winds e.c.t
cheers

Mark: an order for 10,000.

So to be snarky, does Prism have ANY plans? or are they just running out the clock?

The Quantum Pro sold about 400 units a year, even during

the 2 years in a row where it was used to take the Championships.

I think the QP is a wonderful kite (we have 2 of them). It's in my

"A" bag right now.

How different could a new model be for any company these days?

Sure, the panels would be cool and there would be mylar, but trick

wise.... we are at the tail end of the Bell curve on creativity.

Running out the clock? Prism is doing just fine. The fact that a kite company can be successful without catering to the hard core dual line flyer seems to be hard for some to accept.

In my opinion....

The Quantum Pro flies a little bit better than the Widow Maker.

The Widow Maker tricks a little bit better than the Quantum Pro.

The WM can be had in custom colors.

The QP can be had in everything from an SUL (not quite an SUL) to a vented.

They are both excellent kites and either one would be a great addition.

If you can't decide, choose the one you think looks better, you'll be

staring at it for many hours.

The Widow Maker is a more recent model and is very forgiving when doing tricks.

The QP will carve out excellent figures.

Your call. I own them both.

In my "A" bag right now is a QP standard and a WM UL.  Smiley

No standard kite will "fly" in 3 mph wind if you are just standing.

Most ULs won't be powered up in 3 mph wind if you are just standing.

3 mph is a quick walk. It's just under 4.5 feet/second.

Maybe if you are at sea level on a cold dry day with smooth wind,

then a UL will fly in true 3 mph wind with the pilot just standing.

You have a PD for no wind.

Get a good UL next.

I grouped a bunch of kites by wind range some time ago....

I'll go see if I can find it.

Don't rule out the Skyburner Aura UL (5.1 ounce).

It's a little smaller, but will fly well from when you put your

PD away up to about 10 mph. It's got incredible range.

I have an early one at 5.5 ounces. Great kite.

WHAT IS THE ALTITUDE AT YOUR FLYING FIELD?

Are there tall trees or buildings upwind?

Don't get a standard from what you're telling me.

i fly near trees e.c.t!
my place Endeavour Hills varies in altitude/elevation from about 28 m (highlight point) to 134 m (highlight point) above sea level.
so i will get a ul frame next kite then thanks john! Wink
not sure wether to get the Qp or the wm yet though ?
cheers mate
