I agree that LeQuartz is a great build... I've made three, one with the simplified panel scheme from tom's site (was my first kite too!) and then two with Christians original straight line scheme (which tom' sis derived from).
This first kite, which was made of less than good sail material has since been recycled... Frame and bridle salvaged for the red black and white kite shown second... The sail destroyed and never to be seen again. (The material was great at the beginning, but stretched unevenly and never held the right shape again... For your first kite, use tried and tested material such as pc31 or nylon ripstop.
The second version, and clear improvement over the first, although that is expected as I built no less than 20 kites between my first and second LeQuartz.
And the my last build... Actually started at the same time as the red, black and white kite, but built up with skyshark frame. Ironically, there is little difference in the spec 6mm carbon frame and this skyshark build. Start with the cheaper materials... It is a wonderful kite.
