One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I have no doubt that at least a few people are going to pick up a kite and fly it because of the show.

I actually have some doubt.

Sometimes you just to have JUMP IN - at our company picnic this year in front of 180 people I put on a little show with a stunt kite since many people asked me to put on a show. Of course the wind was very low and unpredictable -I was surrounded by trees and buildings - so I compensated - a Benson Inner Space on 40' lines with not much tricking to keep the kite going - several people have come up to me wanting to fly stunt kites from this event - See below:
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
and also Benson Inner Space 2 on You Tube. I know - where is the 540, double axel or Fade?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy. I will save that for NJSKC 09 Liberty SP this Saturday.  Grin

Exactly.

And we've done a fine job of rationalizing the hell out of what happened on that show.  Not every negative can be turned into a positive.  Which is why I thought it best to let it die and move on (and let Scott move on).

I don't believe that even if everything had gone according to plan, that it would have made a damned bit of difference in the outcome.  "Fly a kite indoors" sounds silly enough to the general public that you know it would just have been a vehicle for the 3 judges to unload on Scott no matter what.

I did not get that impression from this thread... nor was is started to be negative. I know what a great flyer Scott is and I know people are going to mention seeing an indoor kite routine on the show.

Oh that comment was not directed at you or this thread. I ran across criticism toward Scott on another forum totally unrelated to kiting. I didn't even know that they aired his audition initially. I had hoped they wouldn't for his sake. Sad

As for indoor kiting: I see it possibly gaining attention as an Art Exhibition Sport, but not as a mainstream thing. TV exposure certainly would generate curiosity about the sport.

Hi AGAIN,
Well what major discussion was just one year ago, Now look at what Connor has done.. is all part of the big picture.
I feel almost vindicated by what Connor Doran has a accomplished to bring "silly children's toys" to mainstream America...
I did not prepare properly PERIOD... AGT gave me every chance to shine. All problems were mine and mine alone..
stuff happens, Ive done some amazing things around kites since this show and will continue to.

just needed to beat on this dead horse for minute,
