One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

On Aug 22nd, 2009,  we will have a back to school/end of summer

Phil, what kite festival were you at that was so good?  There were only about 3 people who flew single line kites.  The majority flew revs by the grand stand/band and the wind was worthless.  I got feed back from people who were there, that if I had not told them what the conditions were (flying in a rock field and weeds and bad wind conditions) they would have been sorely disappointed but they wanted to come up at least once.  I encourage everyone to try it at least once.  We tried it 6 times already and mostly have been disappointed or frustated with the conditions.  But hey, give it another try Phil!  Good luck.

It's a good thing I had a friend that pre-warned me about the realities of the Squaw Valley kiting venue or I would have been very disappointed to say the least.  Shocked

The flying field (if that's what you want to call it) was nothing but rocks and weeds. I guess if I had been sitting on the small patch of grass listening to the Blues music, playing with my dogs, or drinking beer I wouldn't have much of a complaint.  Cheesy

The wind was horrible for a kiting venue and at that altitude (8200 feet) I have my doubts that it ever gets any better. If I owned expensive kites, Squaw Valley would be the last place I would fly them, no matter what the FREE offers included.  Roll Eyes

The scenery as viewed from the free tram ride up to High Camp was absolutely beautiful.  Tongue

Included also was a FREE box Lunch and Dinner and I am certainly glad I didn't have to pay menu prices for them.  Embarrassed

The 9th Annual, Squaw Valley Music and Kite, held on July 11th, 2009 was SOOO GREAT!!! We decided to do it again THIS YEAR!

I went to Squaw Valley, but I guess I was on the wrong planet.  Wink
