Kitefest 2009 - Seattle Area at Magnuson Park (Kite Hill) - Sat the 25th

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Wow, Tom... if you were looking to fly, it doesn't look like a good spot this weekend.(unless you were going to fly single line...) Do you ever go to Gasworks park ? That looks like a really cool backdrop for flying.

Yeah - it doesn't take much to get very crowded in either space.  My bigger concern is wind - it looks  so calm out there right now there is not a leaf moving anywhere. 

The wind is perfect at Gasworks when its coming from the South.  The trouble is that the terrain is extremely hilly there, so you need to be careful you don't fall down a slope or back into the bay!

I've seen Everett fly there - he's amazing and you are right the scenery/backdrop is beautiful.

It's kind of a "different" kite festival, in that kites are an afterthought.

Non kiters that decided to have a kite festival, and invite a few kiters to be "the show".
Maybe it's gotten better though. I haven't been for a couple of years.

They snagged a good domain name though!
