One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Dave Gomberg made the maiden flights of SOLO at Berkeley, the Super Overly Large Octopus, the largest Octopus yet. The body is claimed to be 2000 square feet, the blue of the eyes alone are 5 feet across. Brian Champie stode under it for perspective but as you can see SOLO was checking him out as a quick snack  Cheesy

Love those menacing eyes! It'll be killer if they are red (but will scare away the kids though). More pix and videos if possible.

I was lucky on that shot, the eyes really aren't menacing at all. I didn't get a lot of pics, hopefully somebody will post more. But here's another less menacing shot of SOLO, a shot of a few more octo's, and a great classic parafoil of 720 square feet, built in 1979.

Despojado killed it this year, for me anyways.
Barressi real smooth on 2 lines, whoa.

Nah, couldn't have been me... I'm anti-dual line, haven't you heard?  Grin

Dano,  think you got the "hard core" award for sport kite fliers at Berkeley... Every time I looked down field, there you were, airborne! Nice work Dano, and nice brew.  Wink

Thanks John. I'm gonna get out and spend some time with my new 120' lines, so next time you won't have to look down field to see me. I'll be right next to you, flying.  Cool

I had to PM Dave on that one too, I imagined every angle a kite could get to and could not make that work in my head other then some totally radical shape.

Hint it is a Transfer xTR  Wink
