Gold / Gold S - 4 wrap Silver / Silver S - 3 wrap Blue / Blue S - 2 wrap Zen - 4 wrap - 10g.
The S spars are for smaller kites.
Basically Gold is for a standard kite, blue is for ULs, no-one uses silver and Zen solve all your problems at a stroke.
HTH
Mike.

R-Sky did in the Nirvana FE UL. Zen still exclusively through Carl? There has been AS red as well! Malte

R-Sky did in the Nirvana FE UL. OK, no-one of any importance I think almost every non-user error failure of AS that I've heard of was Silver. Zen still exclusively through Carl? Nope. But I couldn't possibly direct you towards another, commercial source now could I ? There has been AS red as well! News to me. Details ? Mike.

OK, no-one of any importance OK, that's where I come in I tried it in my UL. I think almost every non-user error failure of AS that I've heard of was Silver.
That was my experience. GF Super Skinnies have been pretty reliable in that kite, I don't think the the AS Silver lasted 10 minutes. The Gold in my std. and vented have been worth every penny though.

i have a kite coming i am pretty sure with the silver it is a standard are they really that bad?? Define "bad". It's not as if these things are spontaneously combusting mid-air but with Gold and Blue all of the failures I've heard of have been easily explained ( normally user error). Some Silvers have been broken under less glorious situations. I know Blue~Gold ferrules are different but as I've avoided the Silver.... dunno if there's a difference. Mike.

Well, okay to specify: The Nirvana FE was available in Silver S for the UL (and SUL) version and Gold S if it's been the Standard or Vented FE.
I have a FE UL version in Silver S (leading edges, lower spreaders) since 2005, never broke a AS spar since then (my most flown kite) and several pilots really liked the kite. ;-)
It is interesting that for example Alphakites came to the conclusion that the Blue S are too stiff for its weight ins (S)UL kites. Spars in ultralight kites have to bend to for the necassary shape. The only use they see is for Speedkites. Robertshaw would disagree I suppose.

KO - sad to see that, no fun when a kite breaks!
Sharp looking kite - its like the video-reverse of your other one.
If the whole kite is framed in aero silver, seems like you may as well just try again with the same stick rather than reframing.
I think my Light is framed with 3pts and 5pt lower spreaders. I have hammered the heck out of that kite with no concerns. Perhaps you just got a bad stick.

well it turns out the silver really is THAT bad. Well we did try to warn you Perhaps you just got a bad stick. Perhaps but it doesn't explain the other failures which I've heard of that have been equally oh-come-on-now in their unexpectedness. Mike.
