One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

when is an mp3 file not a mp3 file?  I picked up a RCA Lyra 5GB player ($20) and dragged some Old Time Radio files to it along with a couple files created off a disk.  The files off one disk will not play/not even recognized by the device. The device shows that data that a file is there but doesn't play. I have 3Gigs of old radio shows already on the disk; seems to work fine otherwise.
so, maybe all mp3 files are not created equal?  I am not using the software and the synchronizing feature.  All the files have .mp3 attached to the name. thoughts??

The only thing that comes to mind would be if the file is corrupted in any way, but if it plays just fine on other devices (computer, cd, etc...) then that is probably not the the other thing may be the sampling rate of the file.

Some MP3 Players can only process MP3's below or up to a certain sample rate.  If your older radio shows are sampled at below 128 bit or over 196 bit then that may be your problem.  A lot of people will sample at 320 to gain the highest quality of sampling on the MP3 but some players are not capable of playing that high of sample.

Check the sampling rate of the songs that don't play and compare those to the ones that do play.  Also check your MP3 player specs to see if there is a limitation to what it can and can not play.  If you do find that it is a sample rate problem, most programs (Windows Media Player) can re-sample the songs at different bit rates for you so they will work with your MP3.  I would suggest making a copy of the song before re-sampling so you at least have a high quality backup should anything go wrong.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like the format some of your files are saved in isn't recognized by your mp3 player. You probably just need to convert those files with something like switch.

I always wanted to be a procrastinator..........
I just never got around to it.

Not all MP3 are created equal, there are many standards, best to use a converter
