On your broken lower spreader....
1 Instead of duct tape, you might try heat shrink tubing (maybe even 2 layers), just make sure you start with the right size. And it comes in black so you won't even see it.
2 When competing and throwing my Lithiums around fairly hard, I would use a #84 rubber band larksheaded around the lower spreaders to keep both rods seated fully against the center-T.
Here's a linked photo of a #84 brought in after the damage was done to a new E3. The rubber band allowed the kite some more flight time until repairs could be done back at the owner's house.
