Hi all I was wondering what Web service you are using for direct link to add photos to the forum.

Picasa is no longer being serviced by Google and the new google photos is weird I can't figure it out. I can only load hyperlink not direct photo.

thanks

John, mine was working as well, but just recently it stopped and I got long message from google on how they are retiring picasa and automatically transferring all of my photos to google photos

Then I also tried the Flickr and it's not very friendly either.  I was able to direct link the photo I wanted but it took some time as it is not very strait forward as picas a was.

honestly Picasa is the best i have come across..i have photobucket, flickr, amazon photo, imgur and other accounts.......it was so easy to share to other people, have them receive automatic notifications (something that Google Pix does not do)...post the pix...organize them..it was all very well done....
it is interesting to see that they (someone? some people?) at google have decided that there are better ways of achieving the same purpose....
or did Google's purpose of letting us post pictures change?

Try Google Photos. All your Picasa albums are already there. Sharing is not as straight forward, but possible.

I can't find it.

"However, for those of you who donít want to use Google Photos or who still want to be able to view specific content, such as tags, captions or comments, we will be creating a new place for you to access your Picasa Web Albums data. That way, you will still be able to view, download, or delete your Picasa Web Albums, you just wonít be able to create, organize or edit albums "

I'm still waiting for this to happen.

Downloading Albums would be great.

At this point nothing has changed on my Picasaweb site. I hope it doesn't just go "poof"

Read this.

It should give some answers to both of you, Allen and JC.

The crux of it is this: you cannot embed anything anymore from Google photo applications. I found a roundabout way to do it through Drive, but it's painstakingly not worth it. To download your photos you have something that's called Takeout, which is Google's version of downloading all of your online info, and there you just check the Photos box, and download your stuff.

Apparently there is a lot of demand in the groups and forums for an easy embedding process for a while now, Google just doesn't give a cr*p.

Hope this helps.

John, from your desk top application of Picasa you should be able to click view on line, and it will redirect you to the google web archive. as long as you uploaded them from there in the first place.

next place to find your photos is to log into your google account and they will be in Photos, in a big long running photo album, not the folder structure of Picasa.

it kinda suks that they terminated Picasa, I like that program!

Darn, Picasa is really gone now. Sad

You can sort of get folder structure in Google Photos.  By default it shows you all the photos by date, but if you look on the left and hover the mouse over the square-ish icons, one of them says Albums.  That gives me the albums I had in Picasaweb.
