Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Les Paul passed away today at age 94.  Talk about 1 man that has forever changed music and the way it is played.

I know I can't be the only person in this forum that grew up playing a guitar.  And I don't understand why people think the dead person has to be a kite flier to deserve "an empty spot in the sky".  Les Paul and his work have touched my life far deeper then any kite, kite maker, or kite flier I ever met.

My dad was a Hudson dealer in Van Nuys, CA in the 50s.  He had a "tune-up" mechanic who lived in Hollywood.  One morning this mechanic, "Tiny" a very big man, came in and told my dad that the neighbor/friend who lived behind him and played the guitar, wanted Tiny to loan him some money and become a "partner" in a new recording venture which involved the use of several recording machines to produce a single recording of him playing the guitar and his wife singing..  Tiny and my dad discussed the venture and decided that since Tiny knew nothing about the music business, perhaps he should  reject the offer.  Tiny did just that.

The neighbor was Les Paul and his wife, Mary Ford

Oh well............

the man who electrified the world, inventor of the solid body guitar, overdubbing...and a great player to boot. Long life Les had, and a solid high spot in music history. Sorry to hear of his passing.
