One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I wanted to get a spare battery for my sons' Ryobi tools so I headed to EBay to search for an 18V Lithium battery and  while searching I  noticed an off brand 12V 3amp battery for $35 from Utah, 2x same batteries for $53 from Ilinois and for $1,125.00 I can get one from Texas. My question is " why $1125.00 dollars. Does this seller drive to your home and hand deliver it?  Another item I noticed was 2 stunt kites for $999.99 also from TX and the same kite sells usually for about $40-$45 on EBay. So why the enormous difference in prices for the same thing?  I have been on EBay for a number of years and only had a couple problems both resolved.

One thing I do on EBay is....
I look at the sellers Positive vs. negative %.  Should be close to 100%  Alot of sellers are at 100%
Then i look at how many sales they have.

That usually tells me to proceed or walk away.
Hope this helps a little.  Smiley

I also look at the sellers ratings but it is kind of scary to see someone listing 2 $40 kites for $1000 and seeing that they have 1000's of satisfied customers. I admit that there is a lot i don't know about the system but maybe P.T. Barnum was right when he said "there was a sucker born every minute".  If I recall correctly, in the years I've been on Ebay there is only one item not received, a dual line kite I bid on that was shipped from the UK. At this point all I recall is that it was parchment color with a red leading edge.
Lee S... If it's money laundering, then Crosby, Texas must have at least one very wealthy resident.

Also if you, as a seller, use eBay's shopping system then the feedback a buyer can leave is very limited to awesome Vs great.....

and eBay will carefully calculate the amount and number of payments you can make for the over-inflated price.  There is something I am missing......and having said that, I will go find a cheap cigar and a beer, get my lawn chair out of the shed and sit in the sun, keeping the dogs company.  I wish you all a good weekend....
