One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Neal has been around for awhile.... Very nice collection on his own that he started chatting out a few years ago and now it seems he is getting to the back of the kite storage.
Weirdly enough some of the longtime flyers from California do not remember him in person..... But from my offline conversations with him I gathered these are his kites..... Maybe he is going by another name....

Charles, you are right, I totally mixed up the two...
I have talked to this guy and he told me he was moving out of the country in 2013...long move.......

I don't think it is Neal, he sold on ebay with the name 'claudiaf818'. Also, his photos had a distinctive background.

He's a really nice guy.  I have corresponded with beaconkeeper from time to time.  He used to do a lot of kite shows and had a retail kite operation in California but retired a few years ago.  He moved to Thailand and likes it there so he is selling off the last of his kite collection/inventory.  He is a really nice seller, typically with very good pricing. I have bought several kites from him--most recently the Sun Oak collection and the Scholz collection (although I think I paid a little bit much for them).  Wink

I am not bidding on the Blais groups or the Rezas--I am all spent out for now.

The Blais Mermaid is a very special one.....Martin told me he got lots of guff when he brought his out from other makers who also had a mermaid...even though he had his designed for years he gave up on it to a couple of others....and then focused more on the lifters...

What was the shop that beacon keeper had?

Yes, that mermaid is so cute.  I wish I could add it to my collection.

Beaconkeeper's daughter is from Sylmar, CA, and that is where he is shipping the kites from.  I believe he told me he sold kites at festivals etc. as a retirement project. Not sure if he had an actual brick and mortar operation. I have his name but I am hesitant to post it here but if you email me I will send it to you.  I think he is coming to the end of his inventory, at least that's what he wrote to me last week.

I expect I will be selling a few of the kites I bought from him at some point because I already have duplicates.

I wish I could buy the Reza collection. And the mermaid.   Wink

Is anyone interested in going in partners on some of the Reza kites?

I wonder who bought the Reza kite collection?  Went for $1800+, sounds high, but still probably a good deal?   Shocked
