One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Well, friends, it is with a heavy heart (and well-infected respiratory system) that I have to say that Marjorie and I won't be coming to KP XVI after all.  I was on a business trip last week, and I brought back some kind of viral hitchhiker.  I've been REALLY sick ever since.  I was hoping for a miraculous recovery, but I've just now accepted the inevitable and cancelled all of our reservations.  Sad

The good news is that I won't be exposing any of you to this horrible bug this weekend.  The bad news is that we now have to wait another year to see all of your smiling faces.  We'll really miss seeing you.  I hope you have great winds, and great times.  See ya next year!

Take lots of pictures!

cheers,

David

PS:  There should be a room reservation opening up at the Shorebreak this morning.  Friday night through Sunday.

Beach cam window needs cleaning, or is it fogged up? Hope it dries out for all of you.

Probably fogged up. Light rain, mainly from fog. Winds are still good and plenty of room to fly.

Nice to see die-hards at work!  I was kind of wondering where everyone's hanging out right now. Take over the pizza place early?  Indoor kites at the mall in Costa Mesa?

As they say, KP16 is in h bag! Sat was a little rainy, like a mist in the air. We were able to fly as long as you did not mind a wet kite. Most people packed up around 3-4pm as the rain picked up a little. Still, it was a good day. Sun was a great day. Good winds from the very start. I'd say around 7mph until 2pm or so and than they started to drop a little. Around 4pm winds were very light, around 3-4mph. Around 6:30pm we stopped flying and ate dinner at the beach.

Flying at Kite Party is a special thing. Thanks for Dave/Kite Connection for all that you do to put on this wonderful event. You are a great host.

As I'm typing I'm sure John C is busy editing the many photos and working on getting them posted.

Saturday was a day of flying in mostly mist, a bit of rain, and some dry spells. Wet at the end of the day too, so here's what the day's kites looked like in the hotel room that night:

The owner of the Ray told me the city was going to get the kite out of the trees on Monday.
