One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I didn't get a chance to talk to the owners of those beautiful foils with the beach scenes and fish line laundry.  Didn't see them there on Sunday Sad  They were spectacular an added a lot to the show.

The owner of the Manta got a 24 hr parking pass from the city so he could stay overnight with the kite. The city was set to help him get the kite out of the tree on Mon. If they had come out on Sunday, it would have been overtime and been charged to the owner.

Those are custom 100 sq ft Skyhooks made by Martin Blais. I’ll have them at the Ocean Beach Kite festival and if there is anything happening in Seal Beach this year, they’ll be there.

Great photos! They make want to make the trip! I've never been to a kite festival because of the expense with a family. Now that one is out on his own and the other going to be a senior in college next year I'll have to start thinking about it.

The closest one is in NJ in May (Wildwood?) though KONE might have some good events. Anyone know anything about NYKE?

My wife says I don't need all 20 odd kites I have (xt.r set, Nirvana set, DS, MiniGem). I might have to sell some to get one of the Blue Moon Ichibans or a Reprise.

@CharlesG, thanx for the info.  I look forward to seeing them again.  I haven't heard anything about the Seal Beach thing.  As you know it has been a pretty informal gathering for a while now.  I may make it to the Ocean Beach event, not sure about that.

@ BobD, Hi Bob.  The Wildwood festival is of course a big one and certainly worth attending if you can.  But that being said I would encourage you to see if you can find a local event just to see what you think and maybe add to your knowledge base regarding what field equipment etc. would make you comfortable and hopefully make your wife comfortable too.  To state the obvious, if you can make kiting "family fun" it's a plus.  My wife has become my biggest supporter and best "kite crew." As far as the NYKE I know nothing about them but I do know that for me at least the socialization aspect of kiting is part of the fun and there is usually something to be learned from fellow kiters.
