One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

There's going to be a fun fly in St. Augustine this Saturday and Sunday.
The spot will be on the beach near Ocean Trace Drive, which is the light just south of Extreme Kites. There should be other kite flyers from the area in attendance. You are more than welcome to show up if you are around.

Already here (St. Augustine) and will be there tomorrow and Sunday. Crazy as it seems, I already had this trip planned when Rob announced the event. Wink

How is the beach area? I have not been there for many years. I know when a hurricane passed by it wiped out much of the beach and then more was lost. I thought there were planning on establishing it to how it was... did they?

At the pier there is zero beach. At least when I went by which was not quite high tide as I recall. The south end of Anastasia Beach is mostly gone. Not really enough to fly a sport kite proper and certainly not enough for a comp. It was a sad sight to be certain. Rob might can chime in on how much beach exists at low tide.

At the fun fly, due to vehicle traffic it was crowded at high tide, particularly if the wind was coming on shore. I flew my early am sessions on the beach at the Holiday Inn and there was plenty of beach. Had 4 great sessions in the early morning, SUL winds. Simply, well...Nirvana! Wink
