Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I enjoyed that video, great kites and photography.

Oh.

Quote
“We crafted the designs in CG through atmospheric modelling and simulation using Houdini. The simulations meant that the physics of the kites behaved just as they would as if being blown by wind – depending on the strength of the wind and the thickness of the kite’s material. The craft came in bringing their colour and transparency to life in situ.”

You just can't believe anything on the Intertubes anymore.

(might even try that cider some time...)

I think most of the CGI was duplicating a few real kites to make the sky look busier, with the exception of the the Easter Island head kite, which was all done on the computer. There's a video about the making of the ad where they talk about the wind dropping, so some of the kites must have been real.

I loved the way the flyers were being dragged by the massive pull of a Martin Lester ghost kite.

My first guess would be George Peters, but I could be wrong.

These do look like George's work but I'm not sure.  I recently saw an "alien" one which was very similar and I think it was a workshop kite.  Maybe someone on the forum can verify that.  When you take a closer look it appears as though it would not be a difficult kite to build.

George came up with that platform from my understanding.
He has offered it up as a workshop kite build over the years and there are a lot of home versions in Europe because of that.

Outstanding kite platform...... So much you can do from it.

I really like seeing Martin Lester's spirits in there though
